So I’m still not sure why the idiots at Archer Farms decided to change their fruit strips from delicious, thick fruit strips to foul-tasting plastic, but the fact remains that they did. I took a trip to Target last weekend and checked out their selection of fruit strips. Sure enough, every single box has switched to the new ones. However, after digging all the way to the back of the shelf, I was able to find a bunch of the old ones and bought darn near all of them. I think I bought about 16 boxes of them. It was worth [ ... ]

Okay, people. What is the deal with the crazy nutritional information located on microwave popcorn? I mean, seriously, who eats raw popcorn kernels? So why is it necessary to have the nutritional information for unpopped kernels on the box at all? I personally believe it is just to drive you insane.
One of my favorite snacks has been Orville Redenbacher’s 100 calorie mini bags of Kettle Corn. Unfortunately, I calculated Weight Watchers points for them before I ever read the “fine print.” And sadly, I never double-checked. I decided to take a second look the other day and realized that the [ ... ]

I mentioned a few weeks ago that I was to have a glucose tolerance test done. I had it done on the 18th and I got my results back today. The glucose tolerance test results all came back normal! I also had my cholesterol checked at the same time and it turned out to be 169 (under 200 is normal). Nearly every generation of my family has at least one person with diabetes and every single one of my mom’s siblings (including her) have it. But, I’m still diabetes-free and have good cholesterol. Hallelujah! It’s a good day.

Well, I was up 2 pounds again this week even though I stayed within my points. I’m afraid I may be reaching a plateau again. Ugh.

This time in a good way! I was at the grocery store getting my usual addiction in the form of their Fudge Lites and saw their Sugar Free Pops. The box contains 12 pops in the flavors of cherry, banana, strawberry, and orange (my personal favorite). The best thing about them is that they’re made with Splenda, so they don’t have that nasty “diet” aftertaste to them and they are only 15 calories, 0 grams of fat, and 2 grams of fiber each! Even better, according to the Weight Watchers calculator, you can have 3 (yes, THREE!) for 0 points! [ ... ]

I will apologize in advance for my rant, but there are some things I need to vent about.
I will never understand why some people feel the need to make fun of overweight people. I just don’t get it. I don’t know if it’s a subconscious effort to make themselves feel better (“thank God I’ll never look like that”) or whether they just never learned any tact or manners. I mean, one of the first lessons I ever learned was that it isn’t nice to make fun of somebody else.
Now, young children have an excuse based on ignorance or their tendency to just state their [ ... ]

Whoohoo! I lost 1.9 lbs this week! I’m definitely heading in the right direction again!

I have a new addiction! And it is a much better one than Blue Bunny Fudge Bars. And this one I can somewhat control (as of now, anyway!). It is Good Sense Bar-B-Q Flavored Soynuts.
I’ll admit it – I’ve never had a soynut until yesterday. For one reason, the link between soy and breast cancer has tended to scare me a bit, even though it’s never been completely proven. I did read one study eventually that said that it is fine if eaten in reasonable quantities from food. Although, who can define what the term “reasonable quantities” means?
Anyway….the point is [ ... ]

Argh. Yes, it snowed AGAIN today! I know I posted just the other day about wanting winter to be over and apparently someone isn’t listening to me. And this time it was big, wet, slushy stuff! I had so many things I wanted to do today, too. Why couldn’t it have snowed on a work day? Even adults like snow days!
I was telling my friend, though, that I will probably end up regretting wishing winter was over. I’m sure summer is going to be all kinds of hell. If winter has been this bad, I’m terrified to see what summer [ ... ]

Archer Farms Fruit Strips (sold by Target) used to be one of my favorite snacks. I thought they were delicious and a great way of getting in a fruit serving with no added sugar. They were only 1 pt for one strip, or only 1.5 points for 2 strips. I ate 2 every day with my lunch at work.
My favorites were the Wildberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry. They were nice and thick and soft.
I tried the Tropical ones, and was sadly disappointed in them. I thought they tasted funny, were way too thin, smaller, and kind of tough and rubbery. I figured [ ... ]

I remember reading or hearing a while ago that, contrary to popular belief, a person’s body weight really has nothing to do with how cold or hot they feel. I’m here to tell you – THEY LIE. This winter, since losing the weight that I have, I am cold ALL OF THE TIME. It’s insane. I used to be hot all of the time. I mean, all of the time. I’d wear no coat in 30 degree weather. Now, I can’t be bundled up enough. I even use an electric blanket at night, along with several sheets and blankets. I’ve become [ ... ]

WARNING **SPOILER ALERT**
This is my first post about Biggest Loser. When it very first came out, I boycotted it. I refused to watch it, because I felt that like everything else in this world, they were only looking to capitalize on other people’s pain by making fun of fat people. How wrong I was.
From the first time I allowed myself to sit down and actually watch the show, I fell in love. This was a reality show that moves beyond the shallowness of a Big Brother (which I also happen to like) to actually make real changes in people’s lives. [ ... ]

Whoohoo! I’m back on track, guys! Even with my little after weigh-in binge of last Tuesday, I was able to pull it together to bring in a loss of 1.2 pounds this week! Yay! I’ll just ignore the fact that I weigh exactly what I did 3 weeks ago. <sigh> But, at least I’m heading in the right direction again. Hopefully I can keep up the momentum!

Diet.com has a new service called “Nutrition on the Go.” If you’re out at a restaurant and need nutritional information on a food item that you’re considering ordering, this is for you! Apparently all you do is text the restaurant name and food item to DIET1 (34381) and it sends you back a text message with the item’s nutritional information. Now, I haven’t tried this myself and am not endorsing it, but just thought I’d spread the word that this is out there! Sounds great to me, though!

Yes, I said it. Blue Bunny is the devil. They make these Sweet Freedom Fudge Lite ice cream bars that are fat free and sugar free. I HATE sugar free food items. Hate them. With a passion. They always leave a nasty aftertaste in my mouth and just don’t taste right when I am eating them.
These, however, are heaven to me. And, at only 35 calories each, 0 grams of fat, and 3 grams of fiber each, they’re 0 points for one bar, or one point for two bars!
The problem is, in Weight Watchers, 0 point items are only 0 [ ... ]
