Archer Farms Fruit Strips

Archer Farms Fruit Strips (sold by Target) used to be one of my favorite snacks.  I thought they were delicious and a great way of getting in a fruit serving with no added sugar.  They were only 1 pt for one strip, or only 1.5 points for 2 strips.  I ate 2 every day with my lunch at work.

My favorites were the Wildberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry.  They were nice and thick and soft.

I tried the Tropical ones, and was sadly disappointed in them.  I thought they tasted funny, were way too thin, smaller, and kind of tough and rubbery.  I figured it was just the tropical ones.

Imagine my surprise (and disgust) when I refreshed my stash of Wildberry, Raspberry, and Strawberry ones to find that they were now the same as the Tropical ones.  Thin, funny tasting, and tough.  Ugh.  I have three boxes – that were not cheap – that I will probably throw out now.

I double-checked the box against an old one that I had just finished to make sure that i had not picked up the wrong product.  The name of the product was exactly the same.  The only difference was if you looked closely at the picture of the product on the front of the box.  The pictures look almost the same, but the ones on the new boxes are distinctly thinner.

This weekend I will be taking trips to multiple Targets, if possible, to hopefully stock up on the yummy ones before they’re completely taken out of the stores.  What’s up, Archer Farms?!?

If you’ve experienced this, or do know that I’m just grabbing the wrong product, please let me know!  I’m devastated!

You’re not alone. I ended up with a box of wildberry strips that were just aweful! I live about 45 minutes from Target now, and of course I didn’t keep a reciept on something like that (my girls eat them like crazy). They have a satisfaction guarantee, so I took the box back, minus one that was just gross. The texture of the strips in this package was just wierd. It ended up that since I didn’t have a reciept for a 2.99 product, it took up one of the 2 times in a year that I can return something without a reciept. The cs girl was a snot so I did it just to make her work harder to help me out. I know, I’m a brat, but she needed to realize that customer service is about making the customer happy.

    Jill,
Thank you so much for posting your message. Not only do I now know that I’m not going insane, I’ve also learned that Target has a limit on how many returns you can have without a receipt! I don’t blame you for fighting to get your money back! My question is, did they not have anyone taste these before they put them on the market? I have about ten boxes of the good ones left, but they’re going fast. I think I might write to them and see if I can find out what’s going on. Thanks again!

  3. [...] YUM.  So, naturally, they seem to have discontinued the product (kinda like they did with the good fruit strips they used to have).  Or maybe I just haven’t been able to find it anywhere near [...]

If you live by a trader joes – their fruit strips are great!

Hi Poppy! Unfortunately, there aren’t any trader joes near me, but thank you for the tip! Hopefully I’ll be able to get to one some day and try them out!

I have always liked the Archer Farms regular food items I’ve bought but today I bought 4 snack food items. They were all awful. The roasted red pepper hummus chips look nothing like the photo and were covered in seasonings. The plain popcorn was way over salted. The strawberry mango fruit twists look nothing like the photo and were way too overly sweetened to eat. The cheddar asiago sourdough twists were just a crumbled broken mess when I opened the box, nothing like the whole squares the photo showed. Since I couldn’t use them on an appetizer plate to take to a friend’s house I decided to use them as a salad topper. I’m glad I tasted them first because they hardly had any flavor at all. I definitely won’t be buying any Archer Farms products again. I figured rather than tossing $12 worth of food I would return them since they have a 100% satifaction guarantee. But after reading other people’s comments about stores being rude when they have done this I decided it’s not worth my 30 miles to drive to my nearest Target.
