Uncovering Pamela
Learning To Live After Losing A Person

Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium

March 14th, 2008 by Pamela

I just finished watching the movie, “Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium.”  What a simply stunning movie!  While I thought that the ending was a bit abrupt, the rest of the movie was magical enough to remind me of the imagination and wonder of my childhood.  It’s so sad that as we grow up we tend to lose sight of our creativity and our faith in all things impossible.

There are a lot of little things that I thought made the movie, such as a perfect expression at just the right time, but there is one scene in particular that really struck a chord with me.  Mr. Magorium (Dustin Hoffman) and Mahoney (Natalie Portman) are in a clock store and change the time on the clocks so that they will all go off in 37 seconds.

Mr. Magorium:  “37 seconds.”

Mahoney:  “Great.  Well done.  Now we wait.”

Mr. Magorium:  “No.  We breathe.  We pulse.  We regenerate.  Our hearts beat.  Our minds create.  Our souls ingest.  37 seconds well used is a lifetime.”

Me:  Simply beautiful.
