Along with losing 2.1 pounds this week, I’ve lost another friend. I’ve lost another point.
As you all know, I’ve been doing the Weight Watchers Flex Plan. On this plan, foods are given point values based on the number of calories they have, how many grams of fat they have, and how many grams of fiber they have. These numbers are used in a formula to calculate the food’s point value. Or, if you’re a Weight Watchers customer, then you simply have to input those values into a points slider or calculator and voila! You have a points value. Their online [ ... ]

I came across this quote (that I need to remind myself of more often) in one of my company’s newsletters:
“Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air. You name them – work, family, health, friends, and spirit – and you’re keeping all of these in the air. You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball. If you drop it, it will bounce back. But the other four balls – family, health, friends, and spirit are made of glass. If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, [ ... ]

On my weekly grocery expedition yesterday, I came across two new products that I’m already in love with.
I found both at Walgreens.
The first is Blue Diamond 100 calorie packs of almonds. I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of almonds you get. I figured there’d be about 3 in the package since they’re so high in fat! However, there were quite a few more than that. Nice, healthy little snack that only comes out to 2 pts per package.
The second is Brach’s Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate Stars. This is a favorite candy from my childhood, so I was really [ ... ]

I have previously posted a couple of times regarding the new switch in the Archer Farms Organic Fruit Strips sold at Target. Apparently, somewhere along the way, they decided to change them. I personally think the new ones are disgusting, and have since learned that I’m not alone in that regard.
I decided to contact Archer Farms last Sunday night. I went to their website, and sent them an e-mail through it. The e-mail actually goes through Target, of course. I received a reply the very next day. While I am still clueless as to why the strips have been changed, [ ... ]

My supervisor recently and jokingly (at least I hope) suggested that I regain all of the weight I’ve lost so that I can lose it again. When I looked at her like she was certifiably insane, she explained that my company is going to begin some kind of wellness initiatives. Whatever that means. I joked that it’s too bad they weren’t retroactive and she laughed and then the subject got changed before I could ask for further details.
I also just got done reading an article about a bunch of smokers who have been suspended for being caught smoking on company [ ... ]

I lost 2.1 pounds this week! I’m on a roll! It’s so nice to be back. With this loss today, I’ve also broken into a new decade. Luckily, though, I’m not far enough in to have dropped a point, but that should be coming soon. Yikes! I’m having a hard enough time with the points I am allowed now. I don’t know what I’ll do when I have to drop another point.
I’m a bit concerned about the upcoming weekend. I have a big luncheon to attend on Saturday, and then a family get-together on Sunday with out-of-town relatives. Hopefully I’ll [ ... ]

Well, guys, I’ve updated my pictures (link on the menu bar above). I took new pictures today in honor of my losing 151 lbs so far. I didn’t think there would be much of a visible change from the pictures I took 25 lbs ago, but I was pleasantly surprised. I couldn’t help but laugh when I tried on my old clothes. It was hard keeping those pants from falling down! Even the shirt didn’t want to stay on my shoulders!
My mom and I spent the day at the zoo today which was a lot of fun. I haven’t been there in about [ ... ]

Well, tax day is now officially a good day! I did it!! I did it!! Finally, after all of these months of roller coasting up and down and struggling, I did it! I’ve lost 151.1 pounds! I lost 1.7 pounds this week. This means I finally have less than 40 pounds to go (38.8 to be exact)! I may stop after about 20 more, though. We’ll see.
My next mini goal is to lose 4.8 pounds. If I can do this, then I will merely be overweight and I can leave my obese days behind me. Forever. And I can do it. [ ... ]

WARNING *** SPOILERS ***
Oh man, what an incredible episode this week’s show was! So much inspiration – both by the contestants’ example and the sharing of their new insight. I can’t imagine how they must have felt to put those body suits on that made them their old weights. That must have been extremely difficult. But what perspective it must have given them! The video flashbacks had me tearing up, of course. They’ve all come so far and have put themselves through so much over the course of the competition.
I’ll get it out of the way by saying that the [ ... ]

And the roller coaster continues! I lost 2.5 pounds this week! So, I am back down 149.4 lbs. Only 0.6 lb till I reach 150 lbs gone! I followed the plan really carefully last week, tracked everything I ate, and drank a lot more water. It evidently paid off. I’m determined to do it again this week!

There is no bigger staple in my food pantry than Fiber Gourmet Pasta. I can’t possibly praise it highly enough or recommend it more. There are some weeks where I have this stuff virtually every day!
It’s not exactly like typical pasta, but it’s pretty darn close. Really close!
They have several different varieties, ALL of which are only 2 points for a 2oz (dry) serving. For a serving of the same size, regular pasta is usually 4 points and whole wheat pasta usually runs 3 points.
Here are their varieties (none have a very strong taste, so I think they could all work [ ... ]

I’m still staying strong on the cookie front. I’ve popped a piece of Wild Blueberry Twist Trident Gum and am trying to picture the cookies in such a way that makes the thought of eating one repulsive to me. Such as:
While someone was grabbing a cookie earlier, they sneezed on them.
or
Someone picked through them after going to the bathroom and not washing their hands.
or
Whoever made them at the bakery had a nasty rash that they’d itched while they were making them.
and so on…..
Okay, I think that worked. Cookies? What cookies?

There is a great article that I read shortly after joining Weight Watchers concerning the perils of constantly peeking at the scale. It was recently brought to my attention again and I still find it incredibly useful.
If you ever have a tendency to peek at the scale and perhaps freak if you see an abnormally large gain, this article is for you.
Why The Scale Lies

Argh. What are they trying to do to me? I work evenings, so by the time I get to work, I have my points pretty much scheduled for the entire day. I have it planned out exactly what I will be eating while I’m here.
Today, I happened to come in hungry – stomach growling kind of hunger. I don’t know why. I haven’t eaten any differently today than normal. And what do we have in the department? Cookies! I think some are macadamia nut (which I have no problem passing over) but the others are chocolate chip! My favorite!
I’m going [ ... ]
