Fiber Gourmet Pasta
There is no bigger staple in my food pantry than Fiber Gourmet Pasta. I can’t possibly praise it highly enough or recommend it more. There are some weeks where I have this stuff virtually every day!
It’s not exactly like typical pasta, but it’s pretty darn close. Really close!
They have several different varieties, ALL of which are only 2 points for a 2oz (dry) serving. For a serving of the same size, regular pasta is usually 4 points and whole wheat pasta usually runs 3 points.
Here are their varieties (none have a very strong taste, so I think they could all work really well with any sauce or seasoning regardless of the flavor of the pasta):
Wheat (120 calories, 1 gram of fat, 20 grams of fiber)
Classic (130 calories, 1 gram of fat, 18 grams of fiber)
Spinach (130 calories, 1 gram of fat, 18 grams of fiber)
Tomato (130 calories, 1 gram of fat, 18 grams of fiber)
Garlic Parsley (130 calories, 1 gram of fat, 18 grams of fiber)
Chocolate (130 calories, 1 gram of fat, 18 grams of fiber) - this is the only one I have not tried yet.
These varieties come as what they call “nested fettucine,” because the bag contains long strands of fettucine wound up in small nests of pasta. Of course, as you cook them and they grow soft, the nests unwind.
It was time for me to reorder today and I saw that they also have a new product called short-cut fettucine (which is pretty self-explanatory). For now, it seems to only come in one classic flavor that while the bag says it contains 130 calories, 1 gram of fat, and 20 grams of fiber, they claim that it has been recently tested as containing only 120 calories, 1 gram of fat, and 21 grams of fiber. To prove their point, they actually include a link to a PDF copy of the lab results! How great is that! I decided to give it a try this time around and will let you know if I like it as much as the others.
