100 Calorie Almonds/Brach’s Chocolate Stars

April 27th, 2008 by Pamela

On my weekly grocery expedition yesterday, I came across two new products that I’m already in love with.

I found both at Walgreens.

The first is Blue Diamond 100 calorie packs of almonds.  I was pleasantly surprised by the amount of almonds you get.  I figured there’d be about 3 in the package since they’re so high in fat!  However, there were quite a few more than that.  Nice, healthy little snack that only comes out to 2 pts per package.

The second is Brach’s Milk Chocolate or Dark Chocolate Stars.  This is a favorite candy from my childhood, so I was really excited to see these!  I tried a package of the milk chocolate last night and they were delicious.  These are also 2 pts per package.  Perfect for when you just need that chocolate fix!

Happy shopping!

Hi - I have been using almonds and organic tamari almonds as a smack for awhile - I agree, they are tasty, filling, and not as many points or calories as you might think. The thing with the prepackaged nuts is that for the price of the packaging, which is unnecessary, one can count out seven or eight good quality organic almonds for one point (or 65 calories), put it in a small container or small recycled plastic bag and voila! People are always talking about over packaging and how expensive un-poisoned (organic) food is. I’d rather put my money in the quality food than into packaging! Especially when it’s not hard to count out seven almonds from a bulk organic purchase and quickly toss them into a small bag! Some packaged foods are great when they drastically cut down preparation time, but this is kind of silly. Eat the organics and leave the over packaging alone!

I’m always into discussions on anything organic, so this read made me feel at home.

Nice bog you have here. I pretty much lurk the internet when I’m bored and read all I can about the organic lifestyle, but I really liked you view on things. I’ll bookmark the site and subscribe to the feed!
