Losing a Point and the Weight Watchers Flex Plan

Along with losing 2.1 pounds this week, I’ve lost another friend.  I’ve lost another point. As you all know, I’ve been doing the Weight Watchers Flex Plan.  On this plan, foods are given point values based on the number of calories they have, how many grams of fat they have, and how many grams of fiber they have.  These numbers are used in a formula to calculate the food’s point value.  Or, if you’re a Weight Watchers customer, then you simply have to input those values into a points slider or calculator and voila!  You have a points value.  Their online [ ... ]

“Life as a game”

I came across this quote (that I need to remind myself of more often) in one of my company’s newsletters: “Imagine life as a game in which you are juggling five balls in the air.  You name them – work, family, health, friends, and spirit – and you’re keeping all of these in the air.  You will soon understand that work is a rubber ball.  If you drop it, it will bounce back.  But the other four balls – family, health, friends, and spirit are made of glass.  If you drop one of these, they will be irrevocably scuffed, marked, nicked, [ ... ]
