I love waffles. I always have. Since starting Weight Watchers, my two favorite brands have been Eggo Low-Fat Nutrigrain and Kashi Honey Oat. Both are delicious and are 3 points for a serving of two waffles. At least they were until this week.
While the Eggo ones are good, the Kashi have been my favorite. I think their flavor is just a bit better. Unfortunately, they are also quite a bit more expensive, so I’ve stuck to the Eggo ones for quite a while.
I love waffles so much that I usually eat them every day Monday through Friday. This past Monday [ ... ]

Well, even with my half-assed job of following the plan over the weekend, I still lost 2.1 pounds this week. I’m back to the exact weight I was three weeks ago. Hopefully I’ll be able to see a similar loss next week. We’ll see!

I hope everyone reading in the US had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend! As always with weekends and holidays, it went by entirely too fast. I feel like I just left work on Friday and it’s almost time to go back.
It just started thundering – I love thunderstorms.
My weekend was pretty great. I didn’t do anything really special for the holiday, but I did go to three movies! Yes, three! I went and saw Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian on Saturday. I thought it was really excellent. The cast was really great, even better than the first time around.
On Sunday, I [ ... ]

I have loudly proclaimed my love of everything Wii since I got mine several weeks ago. Even though I’ve had it for a while now, I’m still fascinated by the technology that went into it. The only games I currently have (and I’m probably showing what a geek I am) are:
Wii Sports (have the shoulder injury to prove it),
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix,
Shrek The Third (haven’t tried this one yet),
Super Mario Galaxy (am thoroughly addicted),
Game Party (not quite enjoyable), and
Elebits (rather annoying).
I’ve recently been eyeing the Endless Ocean game, but have been waiting in the hopes that the [ ... ]

I had my dentist appointment this afternoon to check out the crown I broke. It went surprisingly well. For once, Murphy took a day off.
After they took me back, the dental assistant took a look at it and took an x-ray and declared that while she couldn’t make an actual diagnosis like the dentist can, it was her thought that I would need a whole new crown. Dammit.
However, when the dentist came back, he took one look at it and declared “I can fix that.” And so he did. It feels as good as new and just like it did before [ ... ]

I just read a frightening article where ABC15 investigators went to several restaurants and had samples of the foods they ordered independently tested. They focused on “diet” menus or lower calorie/fat menus. Their results are scary! Especially since I’ve ordered several of the things they mention!
The fat test: What’s the skinny on diet menus?

Murphy’s law is entirely too overactive in my life. It seems like every time I start to feel like I’m getting ahead, it decides to slap me back down.
Enter my tax rebate check. $600 all to me. Put some in savings, use some for a nice trip to see some friends. Sounds great, doesn’t it?
Enter Mr. Murphy and his damn cruel ways.
As always, catastrophe hits the day before I leave for a trip. Last Friday evening before I left for work, I ate some popcorn (as I always do at work). About a half hour later, I felt something odd [ ... ]

As I suspected, I gained 2.8 pounds this week. Hopefully that’s all I’ll gain. Since my binge went into yesterday morning, I’m afraid that it hasn’t all caught up with me yet. But, here’s to next week! I’m going to do my best to stay on plan this week. Of course, that won’t be easy with the holiday. I am absolutely looking forward to the long weekend, though!
To add to the hope I’m filled with right now, tonight should be the last night of our international conversation tapes! <fingers crossed>

I was going to say that I let it run me over, but I had a much more active role in the process.
I’m back from Nebraska. The trip went great. It was a tad awkward at first since it had been so long since I’d seen everyone, but once we got warmed up, it was fine.
I had gotten off to a decent start. I knew what I would be eating for lunch and stuck to it. I knew that three chicken tenders at Famous Dave’s is 8 points, and even though there were six on the plate, I only ate [ ... ]

I had a dream about my brother last night.
I love having dreams about him. Sadly, it doesn’t happen very often. It’s been just over five years since he died, and having a dream where I’m interacting with him makes me feel like I was given a chance to be with him again.
Last night’s dream was kind of odd, though. I’ve always been fascinated by dreams, and their potential for meaning or relevance to our daily lives. In fact, I considered specializing in dream and sleep research at one point (among the billions of other things I’ve considered at one point [ ... ]

I am definitely going to be dragging today. As can be expected, I was exhausted when I got home from work last night. For obvious reasons. I still followed my usual routine: did the things I needed to do and settled down to finish the latest Harry Dresden book by Jim Butcher. It’s a fantastic series – at least I think so. I’m sure my friends are sick of hearing about it. It’s about a wizard (yeah, another wizard named Harry) that lives in Chicago. It has lots of adventure and humor. I often find myself laughing out loud. So, [ ... ]

I’m absolutely stunned that in a world that is so hostile towards overweight people that a nude painting of an overweight woman set a record. It sold for $33.6 million dollars, more than any other painting sold by a living painter.
Here’s a link to the CNN article, but will warn you that it contains an image of the painting itself, so contains a bit of nudity.
Overweight Nude Sets Art World Record

Thanks to Hungry-Girl I’ve discovered two new fantastic foods!
Typically I hate the very idea of a pot pie, but these two products have changed my mind.
The first is Amy’s Organic Mexican Tamale Pie. It is very delicious (a little on the bland side, but still yummy) and is only 2 points for the entire pie! It has beans and veggies in it with a polenta top.
The second is Amy’s Organic Shepherd’s Pie. It is fantastic and only 3 points for the entire pie! It has lots of veggies in it and is topped by mashed potatoes.
When you’re looking for a great low-point, yet [ ... ]

Well, as I suspected, my loss this week was entirely sad. I only lost 0.7 lbs this week. I was pretty much expecting it from how much I amped up my exercise this week. Anytime I do that, I usually end up maintaining or gaining. We’ll see what happens next week I’m not too optimistic, though, because I’m going to Nebraska for the weekend to visit some relatives. I’ve not been known to do all that well when I’m out of town, but we’ll see what happens!
Total weight lost to date: 155.7

My biggest weakness since birth has been books. Books of any shape, any size, any subject matter.
So you can imagine that when you get me in a bookstore, it’s likely that you won’t see me again for quite a while. My mom threatened to leave me at the library often as a child. Hmm…that could explain any fear of abandonment. Anyway, hitting the bookstore has pretty much become an every Saturday event for me.
This Saturday, it was a dangerous situation. I went in with the intention of purchasing exactly two books. That’s it. I knew their names and everything. But if [ ... ]
