Uncovering Pamela
Learning To Live After Losing A Person

It was nice while it lasted

May 21st, 2008 by Pamela

Murphy’s law is entirely too overactive in my life.  It seems like every time I start to feel like I’m getting ahead, it decides to slap me back down.

Enter my tax rebate check.  $600 all to me.  Put some in savings, use some for a nice trip to see some friends.  Sounds great, doesn’t it?

Enter Mr. Murphy and his damn cruel ways.

As always, catastrophe hits the day before I leave for a trip.  Last Friday evening before I left for work, I ate some popcorn (as I always do at work).  About a half hour later, I felt something odd about one of my teeth.  Yup.  I broke my crown.  I suspect that it was while I was eating the popcorn.  I remember eating something crunchy, but hell, I was eating popcorn!  Popcorn is crunchy!

The earliest the dentist could get me in is this Thursday afternoon (he’s been out of town this week).  So I will see then what the damage is going to set me back.  If I have to get a whole new crown, it’s going to be $650.  Goodbye tax rebate.

And goodbye popcorn.  It’s just too dangerous to my wallet :o)  The ugh factor for me is that I apparently swallowed the piece that came off.  Perhaps that’s what caused my gain this week.  (It couldn’t be all that pizza I ate.)  I wonder how many calories are in the material they use to make crowns?

So what are you going to use your refund for?

ouchie! I have one crown and I protect it at all costs. I’m a scared little girl when it comes to the dentist. hate that it costs so much too. shouldn’t the pain be payment enough?
