Random Thoughts
I hope everyone reading in the US had a fantastic Memorial Day weekend! As always with weekends and holidays, it went by entirely too fast. I feel like I just left work on Friday and it’s almost time to go back.
It just started thundering - I love thunderstorms.
My weekend was pretty great. I didn’t do anything really special for the holiday, but I did go to three movies! Yes, three! I went and saw Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian on Saturday. I thought it was really excellent. The cast was really great, even better than the first time around.
On Sunday, I went and saw Baby Mama. I have to say that it disappointed me somewhat. I had thought that the previews looked really funny, but ended up thinking that the first half of the movie was just rather stupid. In fact, all of the funny moments were already shown in the previews, and since I’d seen them so many times, it wasn’t funny anymore. The second half of the movie got a bit better. I love Tina Fey and Greg Kinnear (who I didn’t even know was going to be in the movie).
On Monday, I went and saw Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. I remembered loving the other films and this one had an added bonus of having Shia LaBeouf among the cast. He’s one of my favorite actors and did a fantastic job in this film, too. The movie was really great.
Overall, it was a pretty good weekend. I’ve exercised every day since I got my Wii Fit. My favorite exercises are in the aerobic category: the advanced step, and the free step. I particularly like the free step because you can just start stepping and then turn the channel to a different TV station and it keeps counting your steps. You can watch TV while you exercise.
I took a break from my computer this weekend which was kind of nice. The only time I got online was to track my weight watchers points, and even that I did pretty half-assed. I know I’m way over my flex points for the week (I ate a lot of junk), but I can’t really find it in myself to care. I had a good weekend and there’s always next week, so oh well.
It was 98 here in Kansas City on Saturday. 98! It’s only the end of May. I’m terrified to see how hot this summer is going to get. As you can probably tell, Summer is my least favorite season.
And my final random thought for the day is that I am completely addicted to McDonald’s ice cream cones. They’re delicious and only 3 points each! In fact, I went to get one on Monday and all three cars in front of us all got ice cream cones. It was a little freaky because when we pulled up to order, the electronic menu board already had the words “vanilla cone” displayed on it. We wondered how it knew that’s what we wanted and then we realized that the person in front of us had ordered one, too.
How was your weekend?
