Dinner Revisions

June 18th, 2008 by Pamela

I’ve posted previously (multiple times) about my revulsion of the new Archer Farms Fruit Strips and how I have a limited amount of the older (good) ones left.  Well, my stash is dwindling, so I’ve been contemplating how I’m going to switch up my lunches for work.

I know it’s not the best thing in the world, but this has been my daily work lunch:

  • Hamburger Helper Cheesy Beef Taco Packet (4 points)
  • Curves 90 calorie butter popcorn bag (1 point)
  • 2 Archer Farms Fruit Strips (1.5 points)

Total:  6.5 points

I’ve eaten this practically every day for a year or more.  Now that Archer Farms has decided to throw a glitch in my system, I’ve had to reevaluate.  I’ve been looking at different options as far as other things I can bring (such as some of Amy’s Pot Pies that I reviewed here).

While I might throw in some different items like that, I still adore my Hamburger Helper Cheesy Beef Taco (way cheesy) and my popcorn, and I’m not ready to give them up yet.  The popcorn takes a while to eat and fills me up.  So, this is my compromise (for today anyway):

  • Hamburger Helper Cheesy Beef Taco Packet (4 points)
  • Curves 90 calorie butter popcorn bag (1 point)
  • Fiber One Key Lime Pie yogurt (1 point)
  • Apple (1 point)

Total:  7 points

Yes, you read that right.  I’m actually eating yogurt.  I had also previously posted about my absolute disgust of yogurt.  There’s still a lot of flavors that make me want to hurl, but I’ve learned that I can tolerate Fiber One and Weight Watchers Key Lime Pie flavors.  Both are only one point and the flavor kind of reminds me of the Lime Starkisses that Dairy Queen used to carry.  I loved those things and I wish they still had them at the Dairy Queen by me, because they were only two points.  The Fiber One Vanilla yogurts aren’t too bad, but I’m not overly fond of the Weight Watchers’ ones.  So, I think I’ll stick to the Key Lime Pie for now.

So, I think I’m going to survive.  I was devastated about my Archer Farms strips, but I think this is actually much better.  It’s a half a point more, but I’m getting lots more food and nutrients, and it’ll be much more filling.

I’m with you on the yogurt. Most of it gags me too. Especially before noon, yuk! I’ve been eating the Light Activa as a pre-workout snack. Strawberry and Vanilla are the only ones I’ve tried and they’re not too bad. They’re small though, only 4 ounces and one Point.

Thanks for the tip, Diana! I think I might try the Vanilla ones when I hit the grocery store this weekend. I’ve never found a strawberry one that I liked, but I don’t think I’ve tried that brand of them before.
