Learning To Live After Losing A Person

Legs Are Gonna Be On Fire

June 27th, 2008 by Pamela

I posted the other day about attempting the stairs here at work and about feeling like I was going to die by the time I stopped.  That night, I went from the 13th floor to the 17th floor at blazing speeds and ended up breathing like an uncontrolled asthmatic after a five mile race.

Tonight I decided what the heck.  I’ll try it again.  A goal has been hanging around in the back of my mind ever since that maybe next week I would start trying it again every chance I got.  Eventually, my goal was to work my way all the way to the top (the 24th floor).

So much for goals. Tonight, I did it.  I made it all the way to the top.  Granted, I stopped several times.  Several times.  I went slower, gasped for air, but I did it.

I guess my goal now is to do it faster, without as many stops.  Eventually, I’ll start at a lower floor.

I fear for my legs tomorrow, though.  My previous attempt had been on Tuesday and they were still aching today just from those 4 floors.  I did 11 floors tonight.  How am I gonna feel tomorrow or Sunday?

I guess I’ll worry more about being able to stand up when it’s time to leave tonight.

Wow, great exercise. I work in a building with just five floors of stairs and that kills me (when I can convince myself to park on the first floor - which isn’t often).

    Good job!
