Happy 4th of July!
I hope everyone is having a happy 4th of July, regardless of who you’re spending it with or how you’re celebrating it (if you are).
I’m having a pretty good day. My mom and I went to “the boat” (casino) this morning. I lost it all, of course, but didn’t lose more than I expected or could stand to lose, so I’m okay.
We then went to Dick’s Sporting Goods, because I wanted to get some heavier weights. I have 5 pound weights, but wanted to push myself. I almost got the 10 pound ones, but figured I should work my way up and decided to get the 8 pound ones. Of course, they were also cheaper, which is always a bonus. :o)
My parents and I then grilled hamburgers (on the George Foreman grill, of course). I think this was the first hamburger I’ve had in over a year. The only red meat I’ve had in probably that long is a couple of Hebrew National Hot Dogs and whatever tidbits are in the microwaveable Hamburger Helper that I eat at work. It was good. Yum. The hamburger with bun and cheese was only 7 points, and I had a 1/2 cup of Del Monte Peas (0 points), a banana (2 points), and a McDonald’s Ice Cream Cone for dessert (3 points). Not too shabby for a holiday. Of course, I still have to get through dinner, but we don’t have anything big planned for it.
The stunning highlight of my day came when we were at Dick’s and I tried to pick up a 40 pound weight. Um, yeah. It didn’t go so well. I was finally able to lift it, but it wasn’t easy. And then I realized that I’d lost almost 4 of them in body weight. Granted, that weight was distributed all over my body and not focused in one location like the 40 pound weight is, but it’s a wonder I was even able to walk. That was kind of a cool moment for me.
Anyway, I think I might actually take a short nap now, and then we’ll probably just relax tonight with a couple of movies that we rented. I’m looking forward to it. God, I love days off of work.
Happy 4th of July!

Pamela - where are you? I miss reading your posts.
Good job on July 4th. It’s another difficult holiday revolving around food. You did quite well.

have you had Häagen-Dazs vanilla frozen yogurt? super yummy, and dare i say it - better than mcd’s ice cream.

you know, why not get a weight set where you can change the amount instead of spending extra buying the different ones.

I wish! That would mean a discount on their cones! :o)
I’m sure the Häagen-Dazs yogurt is great, but the NI is probably too high for me - I’ll have to check it out, though.
