Learning To Live After Losing A Person

A little bit of everything

July 21st, 2008 by Pamela

Hi all!  I really hate Mondays.  I still have 14 hours until I have to be at work, but it’s just that knowing that it’s coming that gets me.  Ugh.

I went to see The Dark Knight on Saturday and loved it!  It thought it was fantastic.  I’ve been a HUGE Christian Bale fan ever since I first saw Empire of the Sun on TV.  I was pretty young and it became one of my favorite movies pretty quickly.  I’ve since collected nearly all of his movies on video/DVD with a few rare, hard-to-find, exceptions.  My favorites are Newsies and Equilibrium. Oh and Batman Begins, of course.  And The Prestige, The Machinist, and Reign of Fire.  Okay, I really enjoy all of his movies.

As I said, the new one was really great.  There weren’t really any overly unique or new situations in it, but I thought the scenes were filmed really well and were pretty suspenseful.  My only complaint is that there wasn’t more of Batman (and Christian Bale).  The first movie really focused on Bruce Wayne’s life and in this one, I kind of felt like Batman almost seemed like an afterthought.  Heath Ledger was absolutely brilliant, though, and I would highly support him for an Oscar nod.

The rest of the cast was terrific, too.  I adore Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman.  They couldn’t have picked better actors for these roles.  Aaron Eckhart and Maggie Gyllenhaal were also great.  Maggie was a relief after Katie Holmes.  I recommend catching this on the big screen, and will probably go see it again in a few weeks.  It was a movie that I think has a lot of deeper meaning that will leave you thinking.

Next, I finally got around to trying the new Newton’s Fruit Crisps.  Oh my God, these are delicious!  They really remind me of Pop Tarts.  They’re only 100 calories and 2 points per package, and you get two crisps in a package.  While the Apple Cinnamon are good, I think my favorite are the Mixed Berry.  Try finding them near the cookies at your local store.

I’ve really been in kind of a funk lately, hence the lack of writing much.  Too much thinking, I guess.  Too many things out of my control.  You know how it is.

I did get through the weekend fairly well and while I’ve been slacking in the exercise department, I made it through without using too many of my flex points.  We’ll see how I do on Tuesday.

I’m glad to hear you enjoyed Dark Knight. My husband wants to see and I was sort of dreading it. I didn’t enjoy the last Batman movie (hated it was more like it). So I guess I’ll go, it’s his turn to pick a movie anyway so I really don’t have a choice. :)

Newton’s Crisps - I’ll have to try them. They sound delicious.
