My butt is back in gear (for tonight anyway).
I stated earlier that I was determined to exercise when I got home tonight, and surprisingly, that is exactly what I did. I did 50 minutes of aerobic exercise on my Wii and will do some strength training here in a bit. As soon as I finish Equilibrium.
My parents and I had a Christian Bale fest over the weekend. Okay, not really. We just watched a Biography on Christian Bale and then we watched The Prestige. But during this time, I pulled out Equilibrium – my favorite Bale movie next to Newsies. Probably higher than Newsies. It’s a tough call, but it ranks in my top favorite movies of all time. I decided to watch it tonight as I worked out, and remembered why I love it so.
It’s just bloody cool. Pun somewhat intentional.
If you’re not familiar with the movie, click here to read all about it and its gloriousness. Not only did it help get my butt back in gear tonight, it also coincidentally put me in the mood to kick some butt. Every time I watch the movie, I can’t help but long to learn the Gun Kata. And you can’t beat its impressive body count (236 – #10 movie, with 118 for the main character putting him #3). But along with the insane battles, there are quite a few really touching and humorous scenes.
You also can’t beat having Christian Bale, Sean Bean, and Taye Diggs all in one movie, though I wanted to claw Taye Diggs’ character’s eyes out throughout most of it.
Just two of my favorite quotes:
What’s the point of your existence? To feel.
Without love, breath is just a clock ticking.
They also quote one of my favorite poems by Yeats:
…
But I, being poor, have only my dreams;
I have spread my dreams under your feet,
Tread softly because you tread on my dreams.
Of course, the movie isn’t without it’s errors and goof-ups (such as the Mona Lisa being a bit on the large side), but I will be watching this movie many, many, many more times. It helps to remind me of what is important. Plus, it’s just bloody cool.
I think that this will actually be a requirement for my future spouse. He must adore the movie Equilibrium as much as I. No, apparently I don’t have very high standards.
Okay, thus ends my Equilibrium love-fest. For now.

Thanks for all the movie reviews. I’ve never even heard of this movie and it looks really good. I’m going to pick up tonight.
Ooooh, let me know if you see it! And what you think! Be honest! I’ll live if you don’t like it!
Okay, so I’ve come to the conclusion that you and I definitely do not have the same taste in movies! LOL But, I’ll tell you a little secret – My daughter’s birth father is the spitting image of Taye Diggs! Yup, sure is! The first time I ever saw him was in “How Stella Got Her Groove Back”. After watching the movie for a little while, my sister and I’s reaction was the same! We both sat forward and said, “Oh My God!”. It was too funny! It is scary how much they smile alike and their mannerisms! It still amazes me every time I see Taye Diggs.
