Well, somehow I did it again! I weighed in today and lost another 2.3 pounds! It’s crazy since I went a little – okay, a lot – over my points Sunday night. So, I’m not quite sure how many flex points I used this week, but I know that I went way over. I did stay on plan 6 out of 7 days last week, though, which as you can see from my progress chart is progress for me. It must have made up for the splurge I had on Sunday.
I also upped my exercise a bit. It’s nowhere near what [ ... ]

Sadly, my addiction to the recently released New Kids on the Block CD is only growing. I was going to say the new New Kids on the Block album, but that just sounded funny. Anyway, my addiction to “
Full Service” is moving on to other songs, too. I wonder if there’s a help line or some kind of AA-type group for people like me.
My recent addiction is to their song “Big Girl Now” featuring Lady Gaga (I actually have no idea who she is). Here’s a
link, but as Diana mentioned about Full Service, it sounds much better [ ... ]

Yesterday, I was fixing two breakfast lean pockets – which are 6 pts for two and thoroughly yummy – and stuck them in the microwave for the usual time. One minute and 45 seconds. Or so I thought. I got distracted and started doing other things and then realized, “hey, wait a minute. It’s been a while and I haven’t heard the microwave buzzer go off.” Uh-oh. So, I head over to the microwave and that’s when I started to smell it. Something on the scale (or even worse) of burned microwave popcorn. A smell that I detest. Just imagining that [ ... ]

In the second miracle of the week, I actually stepped foot on my Wii Fit last night. When I turned it on and selected my name, it popped up with a message that said something like “well, look who it is!” And then stated “It’s been 41 days since your last visit.” Yeah, yeah. I know. I didn’t need the little balance board guy to rub it in. He is awfully cute though.
I decided that if I wanted to watch The Biggest Loser, then I was going to get my ass in gear and work out for a little bit even though I [ ... ]

It’s truly amazing the power that clothes can have on your self-esteem, confidence, mood, and attitude.
I know, I know, appearances shouldn’t matter. But unfortunately we all live in a world based on appearances. Which, to a certain extent, I understand, because when you first meet someone that really is all that you have to go on to make an opinion. And you know, the human race is all about judgment.
I’ve really noticed lately how my mood/attitude can change based on what I’m wearing, and I find it really interesting.
I can put my clothes into categories:
When I was at my [ ... ]

Yesterday was the only day last week that I actually tracked all of my points. A few of the other days were kind of half-assed, and even more were total free-for-alls in the food department. Exercise at this point has become non-existent, although I hope to try make some headway in that department this week, too.
And yet, sometimes miracles do happen. I’m not sure how, exactly, but I actually lost 3.7 pounds! The only thing that really changed was that I didn’t eat out nearly as often as I have been lately. If I can lose almost 4 pounds without [ ... ]

Like just about every other girl in elementary school in the late ’80s, early ’90s, I was completely addicted to the New Kids on the Block. In honor of this addiction, I shelled out hard-earned money for tickets to see them when they come to town in November. I have to admit I’m looking forward to it, even though I’ve not been all that fond of some of their later music. In fact, I haven’t heard most of it.
I did, however, pick up their most recent album (released at the beginning of September), so that I would have at least heard some of [ ... ]

WARNING *** SPOILERS AHEAD ***
So, was anybody else as freaking excited about the start of the new Biggest Loser season? Sadly, I missed the first 15 minutes, but I’m so pumped right now. I’m looking forward to getting sucked into these people’s lives. As I start to write this, I’m not even all the way through the first episode and it’s already brought me to tears.
Just a few random thoughts:
It was sad to see the green team go, because they seem like really sweet people, but they’ve done fantastic since they were sent home. I am glad Heba is going [ ... ]

Weigh-in…or welcome to the latest edition of how to gain 10 pounds in one week. Seriously. Okay, it wasn’t really 10 pounds. Just 8.2 pounds. I kid you not. I actually gained 8.2 pounds this week. I think that deserves some kind of prize or award or something. So here’s my recipe on how to do it (you know, just in case you ever go insane and want to try it for yourself):
Don’t track anything;
Eat out for every single meal; and
Eat lots and lots of snacks and candy.
It’s that simple. Really.
I think I ate worse this past week than I [ ... ]

Sometimes life happens and all you can do is laugh. This morning, my mom ended up with a raging case of heartburn. She literally thought she was dying. Apparently she started explaining to my dad (again) about where to find everything (wills, safety deposit key, etc.) This ended with me driving to the grocery store at 4:00 am to get her some milk. Thank God, it worked. She normally swears that eating an apple helps, but if it’s a bad case, she goes for the milk! So, guys, if you ever get heartburn, reach for the milk carton. It did [ ... ]

I’m having one of those weeks where I really don’t have much to say. Okay, that’s usually the case for me, but I can usually find something to talk about anyway.
I had somewhat of a binge this morning. I couldn’t help it. The chocolate was calling my name. I felt bad about it, but I’m sure it won’t be my only slip this week.
It’s interesting to me that for the first year I was on Weight Watchers, I watched my eating with military precision. I practically considered going over my points illegal. It both comforts and frightens me [ ... ]

Well, I did much better this week. I counted my points and everything! I did struggle a bit over the weekend and ended up using every last one of my weekly flex points. In fact, I probably went one or two over. But I figure it’s a start to get me back in the right direction. Somehow, incredibly, I lost 4.3 pounds (huh?), for a total of 161.1 pounds lost. I’m only 2.7 pounds heavier than where I was before the past month’s fiasco.
This coming Monday is my birthday and I’m taking the day off of work (WHOOHOO), so I’m sure I’ll be over my points [ ... ]
Over the weekend I attended the
Kansas City Renaissance Festival. And I had a blast! It was so much fun. It really makes me sad that while this festival has been going on in KC for 32 years, I’ve only been once before! And that was several years ago.
There were so many sights to behold.
Great costumes, men on stilts, and women about to fall out of their dresses:
One-legged sword fighting, elephant rides, and maypole dancing:

Orville Redenbacher has recently released new 100 calorie packs of mini popcorn smart cakes. I had received an announcement with coupons about them in the mail one day and tried to keep an eye out for them at the grocery store. I found them this past Saturday at Super Wal-Mart. From what I saw, they come in caramel, cheddar, and chocolate. While I was eyeing the cheddar ones, I decided to check out the ingredients. Sadly, they blatantly admit to containing MSG.
Since an incident while my friends were here, I’ve been actively checking out the MSG content on all of my foods. While I won’t claim [ ... ]
Two of my current favorite pictures were taken while my friends were here a couple of weekends ago (time flies).
The first was taken at the Kansas City Zoo and is probably one of my favorite pictures of all of the pictures I’ve ever taken. I’m not sure what it is about it. I just get such a feeling of color and joy when I look at it. It makes me want to laugh. I usually favor black and white photos, but I love this one (click on the thumbnail to see it in its original size):
