Day Three = Success

Well, I was thisclose to skipping my walk and going back to bed, but I didn’t do it.  I actually kept my butt out of the sheets and went for a walk.  I walked for about 40 minutes and really pushed myself as far as intensity.

I also only used 3.5 flex points today!  With my two activity points, that falls down to 1.5 flex points which is well under my five point limit.  All in all, I’d say day three is a success.

When I’m walking, I usually keep my head down and watch the ground.  There are several reasons for this.  One is so that I can’t see how much farther it is around the park (a/k/a how much farther I have to go).  It also keeps me focused.  Another reason is to avoid stepping in the infamous goose poo that tends to spread a rather disgusting pattern across the path.  Occasionally, though, I have to look up in order to assess the location of my fellow walkers and keep myself from running into someone.  Once in a while, it pays off.

There is a couple, a man and a woman in about their sixties, that I’ve noticed a few times on my walks.  They stroll arm-in-arm slowly around the park and actually stop and point out things that they see to each other.  This couple smiles and laughs and genuinely seems to enjoy the mere act of being in each other’s company.  They’re never in a rush and never seem to have any other goal other than to enjoy their environment.  I don’t know what kinds of craziness they may have going on in their lives, but for those few moments, they seem at peace with the world.  I have to admit that I admire them.

My walking soundtrack lately has been the new NKOTB CD, “The Block” (I know, I know),  but now that I’ve got damn near all of the songs memorized, I figured it was time for a change.  What do you guys listen to when you’re walking/running or working out?  Do you listen to something different every time, or are there old standards that you go back to often?  Do you set your players on random, or have you created a playlist that is particularly effective?  Please share!

Spend a couple of dollars, and get a Ipod or MP3 player, and download music. it will be the best investment you will make :) Good job working out.

Thanks, Tony! That’s great advice. I do have an MP3 player (Creative Zen Vision) and adore it. I don’t know how I ever survived without it. I’m just curious as to what the other people out there like to listen to when they work out. I’ll probably download some of the songs if I’m given good ideas. Thanks again!
