Score!
Actually, when I stepped on the scale today, my response was more along the lines of “holy crap!” I know. Such language. But last week, I saw a gain of 4.9 pounds, so it’s understandable that I got a bit excited when I saw a loss of 5.8 pounds this week!!! I had hoped that it would be good, but hadn’t imagined it’d be that much.
I think my week was definitely a success. I finished it with 8 flex points to spare. Now, I wasn’t perfect this week. I did cheat a little bit here and there. There might have been a couple of handfuls of M&Ms and peanut M&Ms that I didn’t exactly count, but they didn’t turn into binges and they obviously didn’t hurt me too badly. I think that losing that much in one week (even with those M&Ms) is a testament to just how far off plan I was.
I do Weight Watchers online and sometimes it cracks me up. I entered my weight for this week, and got this response:
Weight Tracking Summary
| Your current weight : | 184.3 lbs |
| Weight change since your last recorded weight | | -5.8 lbs |
| Total weight change to date | | -158.6 lbs |

Please note: You’re probably excited to be losing weight, but you’re losing faster than is recommended. Although it’s normal to lose over 2 lbs in 1 week, if you lose more than an average of 2 lbs per week over a 4-week period, this could pose health risks, such as heart irregularities, anemia or loss of muscle mass. Please slow your weight loss; your doctor can help you do this if you’re not sure how. |
I know they’re just trying to cover their collective asses, but their comments make me laugh when I think of the roller coaster that can be seen on my progress chart. If I average my loss out over all of the weeks that I’ve been on WW, it’s about 1.3 pounds a week – completely within the healthy range of 1-2 pounds a week.
Weight Watchers also gives you an option, after re-taking your personal points quiz, to adjust your daily point target. I’ve never used this feature, but I decided to take advantage of it this week. I technically should have dropped to 24 points for this coming week, but since I struggled so desperately when I was on 24 points before, I’m going to stay at 25 points for at least one more week and just see how it goes. If it can keep me on track, then even if I stay the same on the scale, it’ll be worth it.
Day 1 of Week 2 has gone pretty well (day 8 binge-free). I used 4.5 flex points today and while I didn’t get any exercise, I plan on going for a walk tomorrow. I’m determined to stay on plan for two weeks in a row!

Ahhhh, I know that disclaimer all to well. Great WI!!!!!!!
Thank you, Tony! LOL I bet you DO know that well. You probably have seen it every week!
I’ve gotten it quite a few times myself, but I’ve always just ignored it, as I’m sure you do, too.
WOW WOW WOW!!! Pamela, that’s fantastic! Good job. I would love to have a few weeks like this.
