Today, I have no one and no thing to blame but myself for my lack of exercise. Ah, what the hell, I’m going to blame it on the book I’m reading. I stayed up late this morning reading, which if you know anything about me, you know that that in itself isn’t all that unusual. Usually, it is because the book is so incredibly good that I can’t stand to put it down.
This time, that’s not so much the case. I’m currently reading “The Sweet Far Thing” by Libba Bray. I bought the book when it came out almost a year ago, but I had a bit of trouble getting into it, so I moved on to another book. It just kept getting pushed back behind all of the other books that I wanted to read. It doesn’t help that it’s 832 pages long. Normally, I would adore reading a book that long. I’m one of those girls that can read a Harry Potter book, among others of such length, in a single day as long as it’s really good. For example, I whipped through the book, “The Host: A Novel,” by Stephenie Meyer in just a couple of days even though it is 624 pages.
Reading is my thing. It’s what I love to do. I love stories that I can get completely lost in. Stories that allow me to forget all of my own worries and immerse myself into the world of the characters are the best, and I have a really hard time putting them down. Even sleeping becomes a burden, because it takes me away from my book.
Again, not so much with this one. I really loved the first two books in the series, “A Great and Terrible Beauty,” and “Rebel Angels.” “The Sweet Far Thing,” on the other hand, is kind of on the slow side. I’ve been working on this thing for at least a week and I’m only about a third of the way through it. I don’t really feel like much has happened. To add to that, I don’t really care for any of the characters. They have all annoyed me at one point or another. So, unless something extraordinary starts happening soon, I’m going to be an extremely unhappy camper.
Hence the fact I was up late reading this last night. I’m trying desperately to get through it so I can get on to the third book in the series that the new HBO show “True Blood” is based on. It’s called “Club Dead,” and I’m hoping it’ll be as good as the second book (which was better than the first). Either that, or maybe the first chapter in my brilliant friend Riley’s new book that she’s writing…..hint, hint!
So, due to a lack of sleep, my butt slept in again today. I’m almost glad I did, though, when I stepped outside. Brrrrrr! It was only 50 degrees and I was freezing! I can’t help but wonder how I’m going to make it through the winter. They were talking about it possibly snowing here soon! Snow! It’s been too warm for it to stick, though.
I’ve been contemplating either joining the local 24 Hour Fitness or the local community center, especially since it is going to be getting cold soon. I’ve never been a member of a gym before, so I might go check them out this weekend. I need to see which would work best with my work hours and if I’m going to be able to fit it into my budget. We’ll see! The idea has been rolling around in my head for a while now, so it deserves some additional investigation.
Food-wise, I did good again today. No splurging, no cheating, no binging. Can’t ask for much more than that.

Wow, one more thing we have in common! I absolutely love reading! Give me a good book any day and I’ll stay home.
Right now I’m stuck on Karen Kingsbury. An online friend introduced me to her work a couple of weeks ago and I just fell in love immediately. Her work is so touching.
Hey, I am sure reading has a few AP!!! Good job staying OP. 10.4 lbs. off will be soon!!
Tony, I wish that reading had APs! But if that was the case, then I’d have been a size 2 my entire life.
Yay! Another reader! Skye-Lynn, I’m not sure if I’ve ever read any of Karen Kingsbury’s work. I think that I might have once a long time ago, but I’m not sure which one it was. I’ve heard good things about her, though! Is there one in particular you would recommend?
