Learning To Live After Losing A Person

The All-Chocolate Diet

October 27th, 2008 by Pamela

While this guy is on a mission to figure out what diet he is actually following, I’ve figured mine out.  It is currently the All-Chocolate, All-of-the-Time Diet.  Okay, my weekend really wasn’t that bad.  I actually did pretty decently.  I’ve stayed within my flex points for the week, even though my exercise has been less than stellar.

Unfortunately, I was attacked by the Fun-Size Chocolate Bar Monster.  Yes, I swear there is such a monster.  I must just be the first to out him.  And yes, he actually is fun-size.  He sat on me and then fed me fun-size candy bar after fun-size candy bar.  I did, however, make him keep a tally of every single little bar he shoved down my throat, so that I could record it in my trusty WW online tracker.

At one point Saturday night I seriously considered saying “screw it” to my whole week, but then I decided against it.  I consider that a major non-scale victory for me.  A few weeks ago, I would have just thought “what’s one more week?”

The Fun-Size Chocolate Bar Monster finally left me alone and went to torture some other poor unfortunate soul, but I made it through and with 4.5 flex points to spare!

Overall, I had a pretty good weekend.  Saturday morning, I got up early and went to see Saw V.  Fantastic movie!  The ending pissed me off, but it’s a horror movie.  They tend to do that.  I began to wonder early on whether I would actually make it through the entire movie since the very first scene had me about wanting to lose my breakfast - and I didn’t eat any breakfast.  Luckily, Scott Patterson was in the movie to add a bit of eye candy and distract from the gore.  :)

After the movie, I went with my mom to vote.  There was a long line, but they were moving pretty efficiently and we got to the front of the line within 30 minutes.  We were out of there completely within 45.  I was #500!  I don’t know if that was 500 total or 500 for the day.  I asked if I got a prize and the guy joked, “yes, you get you have your vote counted.”  Geesh.  You’d think I’d at least get to vote twice or something.

After that, we hit Burlington Coat Factory and JC Penny’s.  I was desperately in need of a new winter coat, and one that would keep me warm.  I went from a 2x last year to a XL (not a 1x!) this year (I did find a large that fit, but that style obviously ran a bit large).  Whoohoo!  I didn’t have any luck in finding anything I liked at Burlington Coat Factory, but my mom remembered that one of her co-workers had gotten a new coat really cheap at JC Penny’s, so we decided to head over there.  I’m glad we did!  I found a coat I love and it was on sale for 50% off!  I also tend to lean toward black coats, but I got one that is a really pretty (I think) dark teal color.  I actually got a compliment on it before I even left the store.  It’s a good thing that I got one over the weekend, because they called a freeze warning for tonight.

Yesterday, I went to a local children’s farmstead and spent a little over an hour just wandering around and checking out the animals and scenery.  It’s actually a really neat place.  They have everything from chickens, goats, bunnies, and butterflies

to a buffalo (KS state animal), prairie dogs, and an American bald eagle.

They also had local Kansas history in the form of teepees and an genuine Kanza Lodge.

I met a few kindred spirits:

And then there’s me:

The coolest part was back on the nature trail where they have hung multiple large sets of windchimes in the trees.  One set is really large.  The wind was wild yesterday and the music they made was just beautiful.  When you add the sunshine streaming through the trees and gleaming off of the bright yellow leaves, it was magical.  I think I could have stood there forever.  Luckily, I was able to film a bit of it (with sound) with my camera.

My weekend ended with a little craft project.  Two of my good friends (you know who you are) sent me a project and a mission.  They demanded pictures.  Unfortunately, the pumpkin I got was a tad on the small side, so he lost an eyebrow, but I still think he’s pretty damn cute:

His name is Phil.

Oh, so it’s all your fault!!! I didn’t know where that Fun-Size Chocolate Monster had come from! lol

But, like you, I counted every thing he stuck in my mouth and then kicked him to the curb!

Oh, and Mr. Phil is so cute! What a fun idea!
