The Sweet Far Thing turned out better than I had originally thought, Club Dead was amazing, and my really good friend Riley is a genius.
I posted a little while ago that I was desperately trying to get through the book, “The Sweet Far Thing,” by Libba Bray. At the time, I was only about a third of the way through and was having a hard time keeping with it and keeping my eyes open. Fortunately for me, around about page 400 (of 832) it really started to pick up and all of the magic and wonder of the first two books finally fell into place. I adored the second half of the book and couldn’t put it down. I think if the first half had been cut or condensed by at least half, it would have been that much better of a book. I do think the 2nd part of the book made the torture of the first worthwhile.
“Club Dead” by Charlaine Harris is the third book in the Southern Vampire Mysteries Series which happens to be the series that one of my new favorite shows, “True Blood,” is based on. I’ve enjoyed the books so far, and each book actually seems to beat the previous one. A pattern that was again proven when I finished Club Dead and thought it was the best so far. Luckily for me, there are at least eight books in the series, so I have plenty more to devour. I really like picking up on some book series (like some TV shows on DVD) late in the game. You never have to wait to find out what happens next.
Finally, my friend Riley is amazing. She is a very talented writer (movie screenplays, books, short stories, songs, poetry, you name it) as well as a terrific friend. I was honored that she let me preview the first couple of chapters of the new book she is writing and I have to say that I was blown away. I’m telling you now – be on the lookout for her in the future. She’s going to be BIG.

Pammykins! You make me blush! And yet it makes me feel oddly good at the same time. What’s that about?
Thank you so much for this, and, as always, thank you for reading it before all the kinks are out
You made my heart happy.
