It’s no wonder that I live in a constant state of fear of embarrassing myself, because sometimes I just do incredibly stupid things.
My latest feat of stupidity occurred this evening when I was preparing my dinner at work. The trashcans in our kitchen area are hidden under the countertops. You pull on a handle, and they slide out. I always cut my apple (my delicious, sweet Ambrosia apple) on the counter over the trash so that I can just drop the discarded pieces in the trash as I cut. Easy, right?
Obviously, my problem lies in the paying attention to what I’m doing part. Little did I notice, but the paper towel my already-cut slices were laying on was sliding closer and closer to the edge of the counter. I sat one quarter of the apple down and went pick up another one when it happened. Plop….thud. It went right into the trashcan. I took a look and couldn’t find it anywhere in visible sight. It seemed to be buried under other people’s used paper towels and God knows what else. I actually considered, for a very short moment, digging for it. I mean, it could be washed, right? I did mention it was an Ambrosia apple, right?! Then common sense and sanity returned and I groaned with disgust. One-fourth of my beautiful, delicious, sweet, heavenly Ambrosia apple is gone forever!
You would have thought that a lifetime of hearing “pay attention to what you’re doing” from my mom would have sunk in at some point, but nooooooooooo.

Been there, done that! So you are not alone Pamela! lol
Ah, me too, like Sky-Lynn. Except I would dig for the apple and wash it off. I’m that fanatical about my food.
