After updating my progress chart and posting about the things that I’m grateful for this year, I was a bit discouraged by how little weight I’ve actually lost this year. And while realizing that the fact that I’ve maintained my loss is an accomplishment in and of itself, there’s still the part of me that wishes she could say that I was at goal, or that I’d lost X number of pounds this year – where X is a huge number, of course.
I decided to look at my progress graph (created from my Excel chart) to see what [ ... ]

I’ve come to realize that I watch a lot of movies. I admit it. I love movies. Movies of just about any genre at all – from foreign films to science fiction/fantasy and from documentaries to animation.
The only ones that give me pause are westerns and mob-style movies. I’ll watch either, but my response is usually a shrug and a wrinkle of the nose.
Riley recently commented on one of my posts and recommended the movie, “
Miss Pettigrew Lives For a Day.” It’s really funny that she mentioned it when she did, because while I’ve owned this movie for [ ... ]

I hope everyone had a good weekend! Mine was decent. My plan for tracking everything that entered my mouth didn’t exactly happen. I can just imagine how shocked you all are by this. I did, however, go on my hike on Saturday. I didn’t walk for very long, but my butt was up out of a seated position and my legs did move. So, I’d say that’s progress.
But you’d be proud of me! I actually counted my points today!! And, to top it off, I only used 4.5 flex points. I know it’s only one day, but that is [ ... ]

Happy Friday everybody!
I just wanted to let you know about a couple of changes here at the Uncovering Pamela site.
I’ve added a Wall in the sidebar where you can leave me short notes or comments, or even chat with me or anyone else that may be reading my blog at the moment. It’s supposed to update in 5 second increments….we’ll see.
Second, if any of you are registered with
www.gravatar.com, then you will notice that your gravatar should be appearing next to any comments that you leave now. In fact, if you have a gravatar, it’s already been added to any comments [ ... ]

While I was at the public library over the weekend, I found myself having to roam the racks of children’s books when I was looking for the first book in the
Spiderwick Chronicles series (which was extremely good, by the way).
I can’t begin to explain the sense of nostalgia that filled me when I saw the familiar bindings and smell of the books. When I was a young child, my favorite place in my elementary school was the library. I would have lived in there if that had been an option. I remember standing in that room with [ ... ]
Have I mentioned how thoroughly excited I am about Twilight opening this weekend? I know, I know.
NKOTB last week and now
Twilight this weekend. You’d think I was 12 years old or something. But I have read the books and they were extremely good. The last book in the series,
Breaking Dawn, was my favorite. I think I’ll probably go see the movie on Sunday.
Last weekend, I decided to reacquaint myself with my childhood home away from home and visited one of the local libraries. Their selection of DVDs has increased significantly since [ ... ]

Well, day one back on plan didn’t go so well. I didn’t quite track all of my points (i.e., any) as I had planned. I did try to cut down a bit though and tried to make (a few) healthier choices. I did peek at the scale again and I was down about a pound from yesterday. Not that that really means anything.
But tomorrow is another day and I plan to go hiking on Saturday (barring any unforeseen events)!
I say that if your body is capable of gaining 12 pounds over two weeks by eating a certain amount of points [ ... ]

Has anyone heard of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)? A woman who my mom went to high school with told her about it in a letter after seeing her again at their high school reunion. She has a doctorate in psychology and has said that it has really worked and has personally helped her. I’ve been doing a bit of research about it and it seems to be somewhat of a meditation technique to help you deal with negative emotions/feelings. I believe some people also call it Tapping.
I suck at meditation. I’ve always been interested in it, but I’ve never been able [ ... ]

The breaking news is that I’m actually determined to count my points tomorrow for the first time in God knows how many weeks. I don’t care how stark-raving mind-flippingly hungry I may get. As an example, I was just sitting here and my stomach was so growly that it was talking to me and everyone else around me. Not five seconds would pass between rumbles. It’s ridiculous!
And if you want to talk about ridiculous, let’s talk about my peek at the scale today! 12 pounds!! I’m up 12 POUNDS! From two weeks ago! TWO. WEEKS. 12 pounds in two weeks. [ ... ]

I have written often about my love of Brené Brown’s work. She is a brilliant shame researcher and author who not only helped change my self-attitude and the way I look at shameful situations with her
book, but continues to give me things to think about through her
blog. Today’s post moved me more than I can say. She began her blog post today with this quote from her book:
Brené Brown, while an absolutely brilliant woman, is also an honest and real woman. Her life isn’t perfect; she isn’t perfect, but she admits it and [ ... ]

I only have one thing to say about tonight’s episode:
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
I adored Amy, but after tonight…..ew, that girl’s on my list.
I’m so beyond disgusted right now.

Just in case you haven’t already heard, Lean Cuisine is recalling a few of their chicken entrees due to people finding pieces of blue plastic in their meals. The recall applies to:
Pesto Chicken with Bowtie Pasta
Chicken Mediterranean
Chicken Tuscan

Whoohoo! I gained 4.6 pounds. I win! Er….wait. That’s not right. Oh yeah, I’m supposed to be trying to have a big LOSS not a big GAIN. Oops. Can’t blame a girl for trying.
I’m actually probably a bit higher than that, but since I had to eat an early lunch again today, I’m taking yesterday’s weight as my official weigh-in. That’s what? Almost 8 pounds in two weeks. Uh-uh. Not going to continue.
I’ve decided that as soon as I get my bloodwork results in the mail (hopefully tomorrow or Thursday), I’m going to call and make another appointment with my [ ... ]

My dad is not always the most romantic guy. He doesn’t always seem to know how to show his love. I do know that he loves my mom a great deal in the way he worries about her and takes care of her. As I mentioned in my last post, today was my mom’s birthday. She turned 58. They’ve been married for 34 years now and by this point, presents aren’t a huge thing anymore. My dad is also on disability due to his epilepsy, and has been unable to drive since before I was born. He has to do [ ... ]
