Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)

Has anyone heard of Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT)?  A woman who my mom went to high school with told her about it in a letter after seeing her again at their high school reunion.  She has a doctorate in psychology and has said that it has really worked and has personally helped her.  I’ve been doing a bit of research about it and it seems to be somewhat of a meditation technique to help you deal with negative emotions/feelings.  I believe some people also call it Tapping.

I suck at meditation.  I’ve always been interested in it, but I’ve never been able to get my brainwaves/body to chill long enough for anything relaxing to happen.  I read a bit online about how it works, but wanted to see it in action, so I did a search on YouTube and came across this videoThe example that the instructor uses in the video is a chocolate craving – something I think we can all relate to.

A more indepth instructional video can be found here (even though it says depression, it can be used for all negative thoughts) and more information on Tapping in general can be found here.  I think the comments on both of the YouTube videos are encouraging.

I’m not endorsing this, of course, since I haven’t tried it, but I might give it a shot.  What could it hurt, right?

Yes, I have heard about this before. Unfortunately, like you, I suck at mediation! :o ) I’m going to check out the videos now. I’ll let you know what I think.

Okay, I did the first one about chocolate. The funny part though, is that Ernest happened to wake up while I was doing this. I wish you could have seen his face! LOL He was like, “What the hell are you doing?” ROTFL

It was very interesting. I’m not sure how it would work, because I’m not actually craving anything right now, but I’d love to try it when I am.

Unfortunately, Ernest has now started snoring (lol) so I can’t seem to concentrate on the 2nd video. I’ll watch it tomorrow while he’s at work. :o )

If you decide to try it, let me know how it works for you.

Interesting technique. I haven’t heard about it before, but I have never been into meditation and such. Try it and let us know how it goes. Can’t be a bad thing.

  4. Greetings
I am an EFT Practitioner, and will state that EFT is not a form of meditation. This is a healing modality that is within the realm of Energy Psychology, and there are thousands of practitioners like myself world wide.

EFT has been a beneficial practice, and is based on the fact that all negative emotions cause a disruption in tne body’s energy system. These disruptions, left unresolved are caused of many emotional and physical ailments.

The process of tapping is like acupuncture with out needles, and works on key meridian points.
