Happy Holidays!

Hi all! I know I haven’t posted in a while.  I think I unofficially decided to take a break from the cyber world for a while.  I was just getting really burned out.  There’s also been a lot going on in my life lately. My car is having a VERY Merry Christmas of its own.  A couple of weeks ago, I paid almost $400 to have the motor assembly in my driver’s side window repaired.  The following Saturday, I paid about $94 to have the serpentine belt replaced. This past Saturday, we went out to enjoy the Christmas lights and do some shopping [ ... ]

Weigh-In 12/8/09

Well, I did it! I lost 4.8 pounds this week! I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed (I know, I know – that’s ridiculous), but I really can’t complain.  I’ve been completely on plan since Wednesday of last week. I’m pretty proud of myself.  Technically, today is my first day of the week, so I’m one day into my second week and still on plan! I haven’t seen the Biggest Loser finale yet since I’m at work, but you can bet that’ll be the first thing I watch when I get home tonight! We haven’t gotten as much snow here today [ ... ]

Yay!

I feel so accomplished right now! I had a busy bee weekend. I tried to go to bed much earlier than usual on Friday night, so that I could get up on Saturday and work on my Christmas shopping. I believe I got most of it done. I have my dad to shop for, and a couple of things to pick up for my mom, but I think that’s all that’s left. My mom and I went out to lunch – Applebee’s – and then ran to K-Mart to get some thermal underwear. Yes, you read [ ... ]

Lbs: The Movie

I was just surfing the web and came across a movie that I previously had not heard of.  It is called “Lbs.”  After watching the trailer, I am now anxiously awaiting March 2010.  Check it out here. Update: For my review of the movie, please click here and for why it is important to me, click here. **For more “Lbs.” related info, you can click here to see the page I’ve created for “Lbs.” or click on the link on the toolbar above.

Crying at the Movies

So how was everybody’s weekend/holiday?  I really enjoyed the time off of work.  It was a nice little break.  Too short and it flew by, of course, but it was nice. I had a very low-key Thanksgiving day.  My parents and I spent most of the day watching Bones, Season 3.  Then my mom went to my grandma’s house while I stayed home with my dad.  He had accidentally messed up his medications and their dose times that morning and wasn’t feeling at the top of his game.  He was worried that he would start having bad seizures, so decided to [ ... ]

Multimedia Wednesday

The most fun I’ve had in the past couple of days is listening to a new CD and reading a new book.  Yes, I know I live a sheltered life. So, I thought I’d share the things I’ve been enjoying. Music The CD is the new one, “Waking Up,” by OneRepublic.  OneRepublic is one of my favorite bands.  It’s not my favorite – that would be Matchbox Twenty – but it’s up there on the list.  In fact, I was lucky enough to see them in concert a couple of years ago.  It was an incredible concert that not only [ ... ]

Weigh-In 11/24/09

Unfortunately, my “Just Do It” plan didn’t go so well.  In fact, I didn’t even make it through the next day.  In fact, the whole weekend kind of went up in smoke. BUT. I DID do better than I had been.  I did make some better choices.  And I did get back on track the past two days.  I even counted!  And somehow it all payed off. I LOST THREE POUNDS this week!  Granted, I’m still way, way, way, way, way, way up from where I was, but it’s encouragement that I needed. Lots of thoughts have been going through my head lately.  I [ ... ]

A month in pictures and a new determination

I’ve taken a few pictures over the past couple of months that I wanted to share with you. First, I took this pic at Wal-Mart.  I love white tigers.  I collect them.  I think they’re beautiful.  I want a kid so that I can put this on it.    And I’m not normally into the whole dressing your kid up like animals when it’s not halloween thing.  I thought about buying it and sticking it on a stuffed animal or something, but restrained myself.  And yes, it has a tail! My mom and I went to the botanical gardens a [ ... ]

More Me

I had a bit of a sad moment earlier when I was upgrading my WordPress and otherwise tweaking my blog a bit.  I stumbled across my “Photos” page and forced myself to look at it.  The sad part was when I saw my pics from my lowest weight.  Ah, kind of depressing.  But I know I can get there again. I’ve been doing better the past few days.  Been feeling a bit better physically (finally getting rid of the aftereffects of the swine flu).  Been feeling a bit better mentally.  So have been eating a bit better.  No serious counting yet, [ ... ]

A plus to my weight gain, an ugh, and a playlist

And a partridge in a pear tree.  No seriously, I didn’t know what to name today’s post, so why not call it like it is? First, the plus to my weight gain.  Yes, there IS a plus to the fact that over the last year, I’ve regained 63 pounds!! ACK!!  Seeing it in print like that is really scary.  But it’s out there.  We all know I’ve been struggling for a long time…and when you’ve been struggling for a long time and the weight keeps creeping up…well, it keeps creeping up. So what in the world could be a good thing about [ ... ]

I’m Still Alive

Thank you for all the get well wishes!  They meant a lot! As you can see, I am still alive! I made it through the swine flu.  It took me about a week to get through the worst of it, but even now, a couple of weeks later, I’m still not feeling 100%.  My cough is gradually disappearing – it’s practically nothing now – but I still get tired extremely easily and I’ve been fighting a sore throat this week.  I have so much drainage (TMI, I know) in my throat that that might be the cause of the soreness.  If [ ... ]

Swine Flu Hits Home

I know my posts have been getting fewer and farther between, and I freely admit that I haven’t been doing all too great on the food front, but all of that just pales in comparison to what I’ve been going through this week. The swine flu has hit home – more particularly, my home – even more particularly, me.  I started getting a very slight cough Friday night.  By Sunday morning, I barely had the energy to get out of bed.  I slept all day Sunday and called my doctor at about 11am on Monday.  Luckily, my doctor’s office has extended [ ... ]

Weigh-In 10/6/09 & Patrick Swayze’s Book

While I’m only down 0.3 pounds this week, I consider the week a success.  I was on plan every day, but Sunday.  Unfortunately, I fell pretty far off plan on Sunday – enough to have undone the work I did the rest of the week, but at least I didn’t gain!  And the real victory is in the fact that I got right back on plan yesterday and today. I’m making progress. *** I’m currently reading Patrick Swayze and Lisa Niemi’s book, “The Time of My Life.” I grew up watching Patrick Swayze movies.  I, along with all of the other girls [ ... ]

Day 3

First, thanks for all of your encouraging comments on my post from yesterday.  It’s also nice to see so many fellow meatloaf-lovers out there (and I’m not talking about this guy).  In looking up that link, I learned this: Meatloaf is a traditional German, Belgian and Dutch dish, and it is a cousin to the Italian meatball. American meatloaf has its origins in scrapple, a mixture of ground pork and cornmeal served by German-Americans in Pennsylvania since Colonial times. For more on one of America’s favorite dishes, click here. Now, on to the business at hand. I weighed in with [ ... ]

Turning Failure Around

So after my optimistic posts of last week, I blew it again.  As you know, I did pretty good Sunday and Monday and Tuesday (well, most of Tuesday), but then it all went downhill.  Beginning with an altercation with some brownies.  From there on out, the week flew by in a food-bliss haze. But I turned it around!  I didn’t blow it.  Isn’t that a terrible phrase anyway?  It signifies that something is a complete failure; that it is past all redemption.  And my weight is not. In fact, while I was practically in a food-induced coma by Saturday night (pizza, donuts, [ ... ]
