As you can see, I have all the makings of a fairly significant gain this week. I can’t find it within myself to care too too much right now, though. As I was telling Ron earlier, I don’t think that I’ve done much other than sleep, cough, and eat this weekend.
I sometimes feel better, and then I don’t anymore. My cold is in no way as bad as ones that I’ve had before, but I am exhausted, my throat is still scratchy, my nose is still runny, and I’m still coughing. Luckily, [ ... ]

Unfortunately, I’m still feeling pretty pitiful so I don’t mean the liquid kind. The unfortunate part is that I actually look pretty pitiful (according to the restroom mirror I just looked in), too. I’m determined to fight off this cold, however. Too bad it looks like it’s going to give me a run for my money.

Now before you all get too excited and volunteer to be the one to smack me, I first want to say thank you to all of you for your heartfelt, caring comments on my last post. I had a really good day, filled with happy memories and I think that was partly because of you guys. I also wanted to say that my thoughts go out to all of you who have also lost loved ones. I know it’s not easy, but I believe that it helps us to share those experiences.

Six years ago today, my world came crashing to a halt. Or at least it felt that way. I was in New York City visiting my gypsy friends and was excited because I had been snowed in and my trip home had been delayed by two days. I was supposed to fly out on Monday, but they were not able to get me a flight out of the city until Wednesday afternoon because of all of the snow.

Today’s weigh-in is a full-blown miracle. Somehow, I lost 3.1 pounds and made it back into the 180s! As I mentioned, I did fairly great on the exercise front, but food-wise, I lost my mind. This is hard to admit, but over the course of Saturday alone, I ate an entire medium deep dish, extra pepperoni (with banana peppers and grated parmesan cheese) Domino’s pizza by myself. As far as food goes, my weekend BLEW with a capital blew. But exercise-wise, I’m pretty damn proud of myself. Friday night, I took a break at work to climb some of the stairs like I used to. It’s been a really long time since I’ve done that and was only able to make it about 14 floors (28 flights) this time. Of course, I was winded after about three floors and thought I was going to die by the time I was done. Er….they’re out! The stitches are gone! You guys were right. It was a piece of cake. It only hurt at the beginning when she accidentally stabbed me with the scissors. ) She did say that it looks a bit puffy, so I have to keep it covered with neosporin for a few more days, but I can handle that.

You may have all heard about a “honeymoon phase” in regards to a diet or weight loss. Many of us who have been there know that it can definitely be a real thing. I’m one of those and this is my experience.
I didn’t start blogging until after I had already lost well over 140 pounds. I had already been on Weight Watchers for a year and a half. That is also about how long my honeymoon phase lasted.

I forgot to mention a couple of things in my post earlier. I just called my dad and he’s really so cute sometimes. Like the time he made a cake for my mom for her birthday. But when I asked how he was doing, he said he was bored. It’s obvious that he really misses my mom.
But I did see something happen on the way into work today that had me laughing, and believe me when I say that laughing is something that usually doesn’t happen on the way into work.

As I suspected, I was up 6.6 pounds on the scale today. Craziness! That’s what? Something like 23,000 extra calories this week if I actually did gain that much? I do think some of it at least was water retention, but it’s still crazy. Oh well, it’s a new day and a new week!
My finger is still on the mend. It aches a bit, but very few sharp stabbing pains anymore, and I usually have to whack it on something (not intentionally, of course) or press on it accidentally for it to really hurt. I am concerned about getting the [ ... ]

I have securely destroyed the almost five pound loss that I had last week. In fact, if my peek at the scale today has any validity, then I can expect to gain about 8 pounds this week. My little incident with my cut finger the previous Sunday sent me into “I don’t care” mode. Then on Thursday and Friday, I barely ate anything since I was feeling so crappy, but then over the weekend, I more than made up for it.
I’ve been considering a name change. Perhaps my middle name should be changed to “Pizza” or “Kit-Kat.” Or maybe even [ ... ]

As you can see from the pics below, my finger looks much, much better already. It must have been all the healing vibes you guys have sent. The stitches don’t come out until next Wed. or Thurs., though.

Thank you all for the well wishes and the interest in my story! Sorry it took me so long to let you know what happened, but things actually got a bit more interesting after I posted that picture.
First, my weekend was fairly great. I went hiking twice with my mom and we had fun. Got a lot of my errands done, got flirted with by the creepy Wal-Mart checkout guy, made my soynuts. I had a fairly decent weekend, but since I have to be up early tomorrow to have my permanent crowns put back on, and am currently sleepy from hydrocodone, I will leave you with this image to show how my weekend ended.
