As I suspected, I was up 6.6 pounds on the scale today. Craziness! That’s what? Something like 23,000 extra calories this week if I actually did gain that much? I do think some of it at least was water retention, but it’s still crazy. Oh well, it’s a new day and a new week!
My finger is still on the mend. It aches a bit, but very few sharp stabbing pains anymore, and I usually have to whack it on something (not intentionally, of course) or press on it accidentally for it to really hurt. I am concerned about getting the stitches out soon, though. I haven’t had stitches since I was four years old. I was hit by a car and had a broken arm. Of course, I don’t remember getting the stitches out since I was so young.
I keep having these images of the stitches having grown into my skin or my skin having healed tightly around them and it hurting like hell to have them taken out. Am I off base? Is it going to be a piece of cake? Or am I right? Do they numb you at all? All of you who’ve had stitches taken out, please let me know what to expect! I’m more worried about having the stitches taken out than I was about having them put in!
Tomorrow is day 10, so I’m going to try to go after work tomorrow or Thursday to have them removed. I know I get off after midnight, but hospital ERs are 24 hours, right?
) And hopefully it won’t be too crowded at that hour.
So far, so good on the home front. My mom lets me know every day how much fun she is having in Florida seeing her sister and torturing me with the sound of the waves from the balcony of their condo on the beach. It apparently pays to have a sister with a timeshare. And my dad is behaving himself. At least from what I can see. God only knows what he does when I’m not around. Hopefully he would tell me if he were having or had had problems with his epilepsy. My mom calls him every evening and I call him from work, so hopefully he’ll keep doing okay! It probably drives him crazy having us checking to make sure he’s okay all of the time. But we love him and that’s what family does!

I was using a madoline today and i was extra careful!!
suzanne’s last blog post..Today…(an original title) lol
I’m so glad, Suzanne! I’d hate for anyone else to go through what I did or worse!
I’ve never had stitches, when I cut the tip of my finger off using that *&*& machine, there was nothing left to sew back together… My finger is a little flat on the end! I am sure it won’t be to big of a deal!!
Ron’s last blog post..Points vs Calories
Oh Ron, hearing about that still makes me cringe and remember again how truly lucky I was. I’m still wanting to make those darn potato chips, so I might try and brave that “*&*& machine”
) again this weekend. But believe me, I will be very careful and will use the hand guard!!
Having stitches out is a piece of proverbial cake. The skin’s healed around them so they just pull out easily! In fact, when I had them removed after my ankle surgery they missed one, so I ended up just doing it myself when I got home.
Christina’s last blog post..Wednesday = Weigh-in Update
I had the same stitch removal experience as Christina, except on my face, around my eye. I felt some tugging, but no pain, and didn’t notice the leftover stitch until the next day. It came out easily with tweezers, so even if that happens, not to worry!
Thank you guys for the reassurance! I’m a little nervous because it is a bit sore around the knot on one of the stitches. I’ll let you know what happens!
Marie! I can’t imagine having to have stitches around my eye! Yikes!
