“And you’re OUT!”

Er….they’re out!  The stitches are gone!  You guys were right.  It was a piece of cake.  It only hurt at the beginning when she accidentally stabbed me with the scissors.  :o )  She did say that it looks a bit puffy, so I have to keep it covered with neosporin for a few more days, but I can handle that.

The day after the incident (Feb. 2nd)

stitches

On Thursday: (Feb. 6th)

thurs

Stitch free tonight:

stitch-free

Notice the presence of the lovely bruise that won’t go away.  And keep in mind that the slice looked like a big round circle before he stitched it together.

The nurse was really nice and shared her kitchen war wound story.  She was washing a glass made out of, well, glass and it broke.  She showed me the big long scar she has across her hand.  She laughed that with the number of kitchen wounds she stitches up, she should have known better.  In fact, I’m not sure what happened to her, but as I was waiting to be taken back, a girl came out with her little finger wrapped up like a mummy – just like I did on Feb. 1st.

The trip from work to the hospital and home only took half an hour.  Guess I picked the right time of day to go!  I also got kind of a cool souvenir:

shinythings

More shiny things to hurt myself with!  Kidding, of course!  But check out the curved dagger on the scissors.  You see why it hurt when she jabbed me with them, right?  Apparently, they use a new sterile set with each patient and she said that they just throw them away, so she asked me if I wanted them.  Free shiny, dangerous stuff?  Hell yeah I want them!  :o )  I’m sure I paid for them anyway.

Speaking of, since it’s only February and I’ve already met my deductible for the year, I should only have to pay 20% this time (unlike last time when I got stuck with the whole $400+ bill).  So I’ll let you know what the grand total for my stupidity is when I get the bill.

:)

    Almost as good as new!

That’s unreal that they throw that stuff out. No wonder medical bills are so high. They could easily be sterilized. Even if it didn’t save money, it would aid the environment.

    Well, just be careful… ;)

It so freeing to get stitches out, I just love it.

Crazy that they gave you the scissors! Last time I stayed in the hospital, the nurse packed two big bags of stuff up from my room for me. The Kleenex and toilet paper, this breathing measurement tool, plastic bins, all kinds of stuff. There were no shiny, sharp things though. That’s cool!

Yep, you paid for em. These used to be autoclaved and reused, but more and more nowawadays, it’s just a new set every time.
