As far as food goes, my weekend BLEW with a capital blew. But exercise-wise, I’m pretty damn proud of myself. Friday night, I took a break at work to climb some of the stairs like I used to. It’s been a really long time since I’ve done that and was only able to make it about 14 floors (28 flights) this time. Of course, I was winded after about three floors and thought I was going to die by the time I was done. Here’s me about to pass out (which in hindsight really isn’t that funny considering my recent events):
Then Saturday morning, I did end up going hiking. This time I actually got up the courage to tackle the hardest trail. Whoohoo! It winds up on top of a couple of big hills, but the worst part was the mud. I had to come down a huge hill towards the end, and slid a bit, but was able to keep my butt from landing in the mud somehow.
I fully intended on taking my camera with me for this historic event and even re-charged my batteries before I went. I had the camera in my hand and sat it down to pick up my bottle of water before I left. Of course, you know what happened. I ended up forgetting the camera, but had an extra set of batteries in my pocket. Lot of good they did me w/o a camera. So courtesy of my cell phone, here’s me after about two miles, with a frozen/numb face/ears and a drippy nose:
And here’s proof of the mud (no comments about my huge feet):
And then I went and did it again on Sunday! This time my mom went with me and I’m so proud of her. She kept saying she didn’t think she could make it, but I had faith in her and she did make it! I didn’t think it was possible, but somehow the mud was even worse! Here’s me sitting on a bench at the top of one of the hills:
And here’s a picture of one of the other hills from below:
I really had a lot of fun. It was peaceful and quiet and invigorating and relaxing all at the same time and everyone I passed by on the trail was really friendly. I can’t wait to go again!
And not only did I do that, but I also FINALLY got my Christmas packages sent, my income tax forms sent, and fixed my dad’s computer that he’s been harping on me for about a month to fix. Overall, I’d say it was a productive weekend.
Now I’m off to enjoy the remainder of my day off (I just got up – it’s about 1pm). I think we’re going to watch the rest of the movies we got from Redbox. We watched Tropic Thunder the other night (I’d already seen it, but my parents hadn’t). I actually thought it was a bit slow the first time, but it was better the second time around. We have The Secret Life of Bees and City of Ember still to watch.
Hope you’re having a beautiful day! I’m terrified to see what the scale says tomorrow due to the massive quantities of Domino’s pizza (heavenly) and chocolate that made up my weekend!

Your hike looked like it was a lot of work but a lot of fun! Good for you for getting out in the cold!
I hope you have a wonderful week
Brandi’s last blog post..Praise & Peace
Way to go on all that hiking, looked like a beautiful day. Way to go to your mom too for going with you. Bet my feet are bigger than yours lol.
Dawn’s last blog post..Not a holiday for me
Looks like it was pretty fun. You look cute in your glasses. Tropic Thunder was absolutely hilarious!
Those three sentences look like they were written by a 12 year old with ADD. I like pie.
ONLY?! 14 floors? Sounds darn impressive to me. I will keep my fingers crossed that all of your exercise offset the food. You are looking lovely and healthy.
Looks like you have some great hiking places. It’s so flat around here!
It looks like you had not only great exercise but great views
I love hiking, haven’t been in a while. Just got a car today after a few months without, so as soon as it stops raining (and I’m not working), I’m going to have a nice long hike in the woods.
Pamela, great job!
Love hiking, my daughter and I were going really regularly last year. Great reminder, we need to get back out on the trails again soon. Great exercise, and it take your mind off things too!
great job getting back after it. domino’s is one of my weaknesses…
