Just How Fat?

Often, my dad will leave and mark articles from the newspaper for me to read when I get home from work.  Yesterday, this one was waiting for me: Today’s weighty issue: The Ingraham-McCain catfight I’ve tried not to get too political on here, but we all know that I’m a die-hard democrat.  This article, however, really has nothing to do with politics.  It has to do with human decency and suprisingly enough is actually relevant to this blog.  I agree 100% with the author. I suggest you check out the whole article, but will quote a portion of it here: As the [ ... ]

Ahoy Matey

Okay, obviously the Chips Ahoy cookies that I’ve been eating the past couple of days have gone to my brain.  My mom introduced me to the chunky ones and OMG yum.  I think I’m going to have to smack her. BUT, I did go grocery shopping last night and stocked the place with good-for-me stuff and some of my old favorites from when I was actually on plan.  So I’m prepared.  Tomorrow is the day.  My butt will be back on the wagon. I do feel so accomplished though!  Last night after work, I went to Super Wal-Mart and got groceries and [ ... ]

Weigh-In 3/24/09

As I suspected, I am up 1.5 pounds this week.  Granted, it is quite a bit less than the gazillion pounds I was expecting, but it’s still not great. I’m honestly not sure what to do with myself.  I’m not sure how to get back on the wagon.  It’s so easy to just say “just do it,” and that’s probably what the me of two years ago would have told the current me, but it’s not that easy. I feel as though when the thought of food crosses my mind (or my line of sight), the rational part of my brain just completely shuts [ ... ]

Is It Friday Yet?

Well, I made it through the weekend, but I am tipping towards the wrong side of exhaustion here.  At least things seem somewhat quiet at work tonight. Overall, the weekend went pretty well.  I had an awesome time on Saturday and yesterday turned out okay, too.  My grandma got bored sitting at her apartment, so ended up going to the party location early.  Needless to say that killed the surprise a bit.  Things were a bit dull at first, but it got better.  It always helps to have 1-2 year old kids around for entertainment.  They’re my cousins’ kids and are [ ... ]

New Fears

I peeked at the scale before I hopped in the shower this afternoon, and to my surprise, I was down another 1.8 pounds since my weigh-in yesterday.  I know that in all probability it is just a fluke or the body’s natural ups and downs, but I’m determined to make it through the rest of the week and weekend without blowing it. Disney navel oranges have made it on my list of things I’ll never buy again (along with Vitamuffins – which unlike the rest of the population, I can’t stand).  Don’t get me wrong, they taste incredible, but they are [ ... ]

[Insert Title Here]

Once again, this is a mix of thoughts that are on my mind, so I wasn’t sure what to call it.  Maybe I’ll think of something later.  I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  Mine was pretty good.  For once, my health and the weather cooperated and I was able to go hiking on both Saturday and Sunday.  Saturday was beautiful – in the 70s – and then Sunday was pretty darn chilly!  Saturday I only had to wear a t-shirt and then yesterday I was bundled up in a coat, scarf, earmuffs, gloves, etc.  I felt so sorry for [ ... ]

Another Weird Concoction

So I’ve decided to call my latest weird concoction “Mardis Gras Couscous” just because it’s rather colorful and because I just pretty much threw in everything that I could think of, or that caught my eye at the store. I got the idea from the other various concoctions I’d tried with my whole wheat couscous.  I had tried it with lean ground turkey and lean ground beef and decided that I liked the consistency of the ground beef better. I cooked the 96% lean ground beef without using any added oil, just adding a bit of Pam (not me, the cooking spray!) to the [ ... ]

I am now….The Count

Along with Pamela, Pam, or any other number of nicknames (which I, of course, will not list here), I will now answer to the name “The Count.” (I do see somewhat of a resemblance…) I have gotten so far off plan that I shudder in thought of weigh-in tomorrow.  Heck, I may even skip it, because today is a new day (to use a well over-used cliche), and I’m forgetting about the past.  Well, the last few weeks anyway. Party’s over.  Enough’s enough.  Though I’ve been trying, it’s just not physically possible for me to eat all of the pizza and [ ... ]

My Week

Contrary to the way I felt last week, I am indeed still alive.  I made it to my dental appointment last Wednesday, but left feeling (and somewhat looking) like I had been beat up.  The area around my mouth was so raw, and sadly I only had one permanent crown.  The other one didn’t fit right, so they have to redo it.  But my cold got even worse after that, and I missed worked Wednesday night. Friday was my brother’s birthday, and my mom and I take that day off of work every year, too.  He would have been 28, [ ... ]
