Dark Chocolate and Cheerios

No, I’m not putting those two things together….although…hmmm.  Actually, I HATE dark chocolate….with a passion…..normally. I have two new addictions (yes, we’ve all learned by now that Pamela is a person of addictions – luckily they’ve just always been of the legal variety). The first is South Beach Living Fiber Fit Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies.  These yummy little 100 calorie morsels contain 20% of the daily recommended value of fiber.  Where the dark chocolate comes into play is that each little cookie is dipped in dark chocolate.  At first, I thought “UGH!  No way!”  But I remembered some ice cream goodies that my mom [ ... ]

Weigh-In 4/28/09

I’m baaaaaaaaack!  I lost 1.7 pounds this week!  I’m definitely not going to get too cocky since I’ve only been back on plan for two days half-assed (Sat. and Sun.) and two days fully (Mon. and today), but I’m happy!  That’s the first real loss I’ve had in almost a month. I’m sitting here watching Biggest Loser while I’m writing this and wow!  They all look amazing!  Especially in their goal outfits that they tried on.  I had a moment of re-awakening when I realized that even with my recent stupidity and the weight I’ve regained, I’ve still lost more weight [ ... ]

Rewrite Your Life

I’m doing better, everybody!  Not only am I slowly, but surely, getting over my cold – I still have a scratchy throat and a bit of a stuffy nose, but it’s getting better – but I am also slowly, but surely, getting back on track.  I did much better over this past weekend.  I only went a little bit over on Saturday and was actually a point under my target on Sunday.  Today, I’m a couple of points over, but I counted them and it wasn’t completely out of control.  Progress!  I think seeing my progress chart really put things [ ... ]

Weigh-In 4/22/09

Miraculously, I didn’t really gain this week – I just sort of maintained.  At least, that’s the story I’m sticking to, since my gain was less than a pound. I have been doing a bit better.  My eating is a bit more in control.  Um, kinda, anyway.  I’ve gotten down to eating several pre-portioned snacks/meals rather than just unlimited amounts of unportioned snacks/meals.  If that makes any sense at all.  Which it probably doesn’t.  But this is my progress graph according to Weight Watchers. Notice the upward swing towards the right?  Pretty tragic isn’t it?  Seriously, I’ve got to nip [ ... ]

New-to-Me Products

Random thought:  You know what I really hate?  When you get a piece of popcorn stuck in your teeth and you can’t figure out which teeth it’s stuck between.  It just feels all wrong, you know?  Okay, maybe it’s just me. So since I’ve been shopping lately with keeping an eye toward trying to find foods to get myself back on track, I’ve stumbled across a few new-to-me products.  I’d say they were new, but for all I know, these could have been around for a while. Oreo Fun Stix – Wafery, flaky, chocolatey, oreo-y goodness in a stick!  Forget the milk [ ... ]

My New Toy

Since my old cell phone was about to go belly-up and I couldn’t even access my e-mail on it anymore, I decided it was time to break down and buy a new phone.  Luckily, I happened to hit Sprint’s current sale, which I believe ends tomorrow.  Since I was upgrading, I got an even better price. This is what I got: BlackBerry Curve 8330 I freaking love it!  While unfortunately I can’t access my internet or e-mail or anything until my new plan starts on Sunday, I’ve been having fun checking out all of the other features.  The worst part was getting [ ... ]

Epilepsy

As the great majority of you already know, my dad has suffered from increasingly debilitating epilepsy since he was a young teenager. Unfortunately, he is one of the unlucky one-third that has not been able to be managed by medication. I’ve lost track of the number of pills that he takes (I think only my mom really knows), but he still has seizures daily. More than once, these seizures have sent him to the emergency room. I was so happy to see that epilepsy made the cover of Newsweek this week and I recommend that you each pick up a [ ... ]

Weigh-In and BL 4/14/09

Okay, unfortunately, I was up another couple of pounds again this week, but I hit myself over the head with a reality check last night and am already doing better.  I owe it to myself. Now, more importantly……. ***WARNING – SPOILERS AHEAD*** Did the Biggest Loser tonight make anyone else a sobbing mess?  The first time it hit me was with Max, Mike’s brother.  Oh my goodness, that broke my heart.  That poor guy.  I can say that I know how he was feeling, because I’ve been there.  I know what he’s going through.  You already feel so alone being at such a high weight [ ... ]

It’s Monday

Yes, folks, it is definitely Monday.  I learned something new today.  Apparently, it IS possible to oversleep and be late to work even when you don’t have to be there until the evening.  I guess that’s what happens when you set your alarm for AM instead of PM.  Who knew?  I’m usually extremely careful about double-checking my alarm.  It didn’t help that I was up a couple of hours later than usual, but I think the biggest problem (you know, other than the alarm) was that I kept waking up for some reason. I hope everyone had a happy Easter!  I [ ... ]

Titanic-Sized Quote

I get a daily trivia e-mail that sometimes contains quotes.  This one, one of my favorites, was in today’s e-mail. “Just think of all those women on the Titanic who said, ‘No, thank you,’ to dessert that night. And for what!” Erma Bombeck. Now see, it’s thinking like that that got me into trouble.  But the woman does have a point.

Doing a Bit Better

I actually opened my points tracker (progress!) and then plotted the outline of my food for the day.  While I didn’t get absolutely everything on there that I ate, there were only a couple of variations that really weren’t by more than five extra points.  So yes, I would say major progress. Even beyond that, I actually got out of bed early and went for a walk!  Yes!  Me!  It’d been a while.  Of course, I had a raging sinus headache by the time I got home, but it was worth it.  It was a gorgeous day.  A sunny 60 degrees Fahrenheit with [ ... ]

Weigh-In 4/7/09

So here’s the deal.  I’m up 0.5 pounds on the scale this week.  However, I am going to consider this week a success for a couple of different reasons: The gain is less than a pound – which is a major improvement over the past several weeks. I’m actually down a little over two pounds since Sunday. I unloaded the rest of my bag of Starburst on my dad.  I bought the bag before Christmas to have a couple of pieces when I felt the urge (couple of pieces - yeah right) and then couldn’t eat anymore because my crown broke.  Unfortunately, I re-discovered the bag [ ... ]

Sleepy Time

Okay, so it’s not really sleepy time – especially since I’ve only been awake for about five hours – but I’m sure ready for it.  I think I’ve yawned about 12 times in the past 15 minutes.  Seriously. How was everybody’s weekend?  Mine was all right.  I didn’t do a whole lot.  Ran errands, did grocery shopping and laundry and such.  I did go hiking on Saturday, but didn’t walk as far as I usually do.  It was beautiful on Saturday:  in the 70s with a cool breeze and sunny blue skies.  Yesterday, on the other hand, was hideous:  in the [ ... ]

You know what they say….

You know what they say when people disappear or stop posting in the weight-loss blogging world – that things are not going well or that they’ve fallen off the wagon. In my case, both would be true. I really don’t know what my deal is lately.  I’ve completely gone back to my old ways.  Granted, my old binging ways are tempered a teensy bit and involve a great deal more fruits and veggies, but they still consist of consuming massive quantities of calories without thinking about it first. I think I’ve been a little depressed lately, too, for some reason – hence the not [ ... ]
