Dark Chocolate and Cheerios

No, I’m not putting those two things together….although…hmmm.

Actually, I HATE dark chocolate….with a passion…..normally.

I have two new addictions (yes, we’ve all learned by now that Pamela is a person of addictions – luckily they’ve just always been of the legal variety).

The first is South Beach Living Fiber Fit Double Chocolate Chunk Cookies.  These yummy little 100 calorie morsels contain 20% of the daily recommended value of fiber.  Where the dark chocolate comes into play is that each little cookie is dipped in dark chocolate.  At first, I thought “UGH!  No way!”  But I remembered some ice cream goodies that my mom had had a while back that were vanilla ice cream covered in dark chocolate and they were decent, so I decided to give these cookies a try.  I LOVE THESE THINGS!  I’m hoping that they will be a gateway drug to dark chocolate.  I love milk chocolate, but also know that dark chocolate is better for you.  Every time I’ve had these, I’ve been trying to savor and eat off the dark chocolate first to get a taste for it.  So if these little things can help me develop a taste for dark chocolate and perhaps wean me off of milk chocolate, I’m all for it.  (Sorry, I’m laughing internally at the thought of being weaned off milk chocolate.  Yeah, right.)

My other new addiction is MultiGrain Cheerios.  I know, where the heck have I been?  Every week, I listen to the trainers on The Biggest Loser rave about them.  I’ve always loved regular Cheerios, but haven’t eaten them in years.  Why haven’t I tried these before now?  So many great nutrients, low calories, low points, fiber.   Seriously, what more can I ask for?  Oh yeah!  They also taste great!  Slap some 1% milk on top and it’s been my go-to snack for the past several days.

PS – Note to Riley:  The subject of this post made me think of you.  :)

erm, I know the box says “dark chocolate” on the front, but you may wanna look at the ingredient list and be sure they’re not fooling you. semi-sweet is not the same as dark.

  2. Pamela says:

Ah, good point, Shawna. However, while this is true (and thank you for pointing it out), it still tastes like dark chocolate, so can still serve my purposes as a gateway drug. :)

I’m glad you are thinking of me, but which part?

The dark chocolate? Which you know I love. The Cheerios? Which you know I love. Or the fact that you put two sort of random things together and turned them into a title?

    Which you know I love.

  4. Pamela says:

All of the above, of course, Riley! :)

Ok, so if you ever have the “extra” points (and yes, I know this sounds weird/gross), try these Cheerios with some Colby Jack cheese chunks. Odd but really, REALLY good! Trust me on this!

Love your blog, btw. Been lurking for a while. Should’ve known it’d be my favorite Cheerios that brought me out of hiding. :)

The MultiGrain Cheerios are SO good! They are my hubby’s snack of choice – often, just a sandwich bag of dry cheerios.

I try to stay away from cereals – I always want whole milk or skim milk with real cream to go with it. Better to just avoid.

    karyn’s last blog post..Enough

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Multigrain Cheerios!! I’ve been eating them religiously for about 2 months. The other day I thought I’d try the Banana Nut Cheerios…DELICIOUS!! And Dark Chocolate…mmmm, I’ve loved it since I was a child…I’m actually getting aggravated, but I was the the kid who used to get all of the ‘Special Dark’ out of the Hershey Mini bags because NO ONE ate dark chocolate. Now that it’s ‘cool’ to eat it, I have to fight everyone for the ‘Special Dark’ bars.

  8. Pamela says:

Wow, guys, I seriously must have been living under a rock! How come no one told me how good they are?! :o )

Tonya, that’s so funny. You would definitely still get them all at my house!

Karyn, do you know that I’ve actually never tried whole milk in my life?

Welcome, Christina! I’m glad you decided to come out of hiding! The cheese with the cheerios actually sounds pretty good (especially considering what a cheese-aholic I am). I’ll have to try it! Thanks!
