I forgot to mention in my earlier weigh-in post that my mom and I went walking on both Saturday and Sunday. On Sunday, I took some more pictures with my phone and thought I would share them with you all. (I know a few of you have already seen them, so bear with me!)
It truly amazes me how much the wildlife can change in a week’s time. Everything gets so much greener and more grown.
Our favorite place has a kids area that we don’t often check out, but this time we did and saw a new addition. It was this kiddie seating area. I was amazed that I got my butt to fit!
Right after this pictures was taken, my mom and I decided to play a nice healthy round of Checkers. She securely kicked my butt, but it was so relaxing!
While we finished up our game, we listened to a father and his son hopping on the stepping stones in the background and reciting their ABCs and numbers (each stone is painted with a letter or number).
We then continued our walk and enjoyed the nature around us. Over the past several months, I’ve gotten fairly familiar with the paths, and have started to look up more often to see the world around me. I learned how dangerous this can be. Not necessarily for me, but for the wildlife. I happened to look down at one point and saw that I nearly stepped on a tiny little snake. Of course, it rushed off into the grass before I could take a picture. Not two minutes later, as we continued on down the path, I looked down again and saw that I was about to step on a tiny little frog or toad. It was similar to the ones that we saw near the waterfall last fall. I’m so glad I caught myself in time! How horrible would that have been?!

After we passed by the frog/toad, I saw that a family was coming from the other direction. I stopped as they passed to let them know about it for two reasons. The first was so that they wouldn’t step on it, and the second was because I thought that it would be fun for the kids. I was right. I turned around after passing them when I heard the kids start exclaiming. The father was crouched down pointing it out to the kids. That was kind of a good feeling.
At one point on our walk, we heard this bird chirping extremely loudly and it sounded fairly close. We stopped and looked around, trying to find it. We finally realized that it was in a tree a few feet away and up above us. I was able to zoom in on him/her a bit.
I actually got a bit of video of this bird’s singing/chirping. Talk about a big voice for such a tiny animal!
Overall, it couldn’t have been better. The sun was shining, the breeze was cool, and I had great company. It truly was a perfect, beautiful day.

What a fun post! You really are privileged to have such a nice area to walk in…
