By 10am this morning, I had been to Wal-Mart, Wal-Mart Market, the bank, Whole Foods, and Michaels. I have one or two more things to pick up later, but I can pretty much say that I have all of my errands done. I have a load of dishes going in the dishwasher, all of my groceries put away, and am feeling like I got a lot accomplished. Of course, all of this is a product of the fact that I couldn’t sleep and have been up since 3am. I sense a nap in my near future.

You know that song, or songs, that so deeply connect with you that they just fit? They almost become comfortable friends? You can count on them to pull in whatever emotion it is that you associate with that song no matter what else may be going on in your life?
Well, I rediscovered such a song today. I was getting tired of listening to the same old thing in my car every day, so started flipping through some of the CDs I had nearby. I came across
Flavors Of Entanglement by Alanis Morissette. I had honestly forgotten about it and [ ... ]

Not because of my cooking, of course, if I hadn’t survived.
See, a couple of months ago, I bought some ground chicken (of the Smart Chicken 93/7 variety) because I had never tried it and my grocery store was having an insane sale. The woman behind the meat counter saw me eying (WordPress says that that is really how you spell that word, but it just looks really odd to me right now – does that ever happen to you?) it and called out that she loved it. She said she thought it tasted better than lean ground turkey, which I [ ... ]
Ha – Pop Poll. Makes me think of
these things from my youth. Wow, I loved them, and in fact, I think I still have mine somewhere in storage. I’m pretty sure I had the white one.
So the subject of today’s Pop Poll (kind of like a pop quiz, but with no way to fail) is “How do you eat?” and on this go ’round, I’ve got two questions for you.
First, how frequently do you have meals throughout the day? I know there’s been a lot of value placed in the media of having [ ... ]

Hi everybody!
Today I stepped on the scale for my *official* weigh-in and I’m sure the look on my face was priceless. I proceeded to step off the scale, wait for it to turn off, poke it with my foot to reset it, hop back on, check out the weight it stated and then repeated the whole process two or three more times. At one point, I even grabbed a big bottle of vinegar that was sitting nearby (long story….) and hopped back on just to make sure that it wasn’t just giving me the same total every time because of [ ... ]

I’ve posted a couple of times about the movie, “
Lbs.” I don’t quite remember what brought it on, but I was doing a Google search for movies that contained overweight main characters and somehow, by luck, chance, or fate, I stumbled across the movie’s
official website. I read the synopsis and then watched the trailer. At that point, I was hooked and immediately posted a quick comment/link on here to share it with all of you. I then proceeded to check out the rest of their site and was fascinated by what I read.
For those who [ ... ]

Unfortunately, my left temple is going “thump, thump, thump, thump” right now. So if any of my forthcoming comments make no sense – that’s my excuse. As to my excuse on any other day, I’m still trying to come up with one.
First, I just called and checked in with my dad about 1/2 hr ago and so far so good. You know, unless he’s lying to me. But he answered and sounded coherent, so I’m taking that as a good sign.
I feel so bad for lying to my mom. I called her on my way to work to see what [ ... ]

First, I’m going to need you guys (pretty please?) to send up some prayers, cross your fingers, do the hokey-pokey, or whatever it is that you guys do when you really want something to go your way. I’m really nervous right now. Okay, I’ll admit it. I’m downright scared. It’s a little after 3:30 am and my dad just had a seizure and fell again. This time right outside my bedroom in our upstairs hallway – not even 10 ft from the stairs. He seemed okay when he got up and he went into his bedroom where I made him [ ... ]

Happy Sunday!
I hope you all are having a good weekend. Mine has been pretty low key. The weather has unfortunately been absolutely terrible. We’ve been getting a lot of ice/sleet/snow today. My dad suggested that I go out and put some salt down on the driveway, so I decided to go ahead and clean some of the ice off of my car. I won’t need to drive it until tomorrow afternoon, but figured it would be easier to try to get some of it off today, especially since it’s still coming down a bit. But this is what I saw [ ... ]

This has been floating about the ‘net for a while now, but I just finally got through (I recommend calling in the middle of the night). Have you all seen this/tried it out? OMG I thought it was great!
This is hilarious – and real! Call the Nestle Crunch Hotline at 1-800-295-0051. When asked if you want to continue in English or Spanish, wait quietly for about 10 seconds and you will smile. I promise! Keep going and press 4. Listen to ALL the options…then press 7….
I may call back and try some of the other options….

We all know that there are different kinds of losses.
The good kind:
Weight loss
The pretty darn sucky kind:
Job loss
And the tragic kind:
The loss of a loved one
Fortunately, I am working on the first one, and have been grateful to not have to experience the second (knock on wood). The third, however, is something I’m still dealing with on a daily basis.
Most of you know by now (though some newer readers may not), that I lost my younger brother in a car crash seven years ago today. Seven years! It’s so hard to believe. I can’t believe he’s been gone for seven [ ... ]

By now I’m sure all of you have heard of/are following the Kevin Smith Southwest Airlines debacle. I’ve been following it here and there, but stumbled across a post of
Christy’s that led me to
Kevin’s blog. And I love it! I’ll be following it more in the future. She also linked to
this blog post at Salon.com that I adored. So thank you, Christy!
Flying has always been an anxiety-ridden experience for me. The only couple of times that I remember not worrying about fitting in the seat were when I was in 1st [ ... ]

I had the craziest dream last night!
I was in my bedroom – which was actually the bedroom I grew up in, but decorated differently – and was working on my laptop. Nothing unusual about that, except something kept taking control of my cursor/mouse and moving it around, clicking on things, opening other tabs, files, windows, etc. It was like someone was entering my computer through remote access. I would try to shut it down to break the connection, but every time I did, it would reboot itself and go back into my account and start going through files again.
I noticed [ ... ]

Hi all! Did you know this is my 502nd post on this blog? I didn’t! Not until I just happened to glance at a section of my screen that I rarely look at. I passed right by number 500 without even realizing it. Of course, I should have hit it long ago, but I stupidly had my head in the sand and was avoiding all things weight loss related and embracing all things weight gain related.
So there, it’s acknowledged. And hopefully, number 1,000 will occur long before another two years have passed (oh yeah, I also passed the [ ... ]

I’m still in the process of catching up on my blog-reading and stumbled across this fantastic video on Lissa’s site.
I won’t rehash what she wrote about it (you can
read it here), but I wanted to make sure that you all saw it in case you haven’t already.
