So-So

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  I didn’t have to work today because of President’s Day, so of course that was a beautiful thing!

Unfortunately, I only did so-so on my eating.  I pretty much blew it on Saturday, which is sad because it got off to such a great start.  We went to the KC Zoo and spent several hours walking around and checking out the animals.  Surprisingly, there were quite a few out even though the temperature was hovering around freezing.  Of course, most of the African animals were in hiding.

But as soon as I got home, it all went downhill from there, and I didn’t do much better on Sunday.  Today, on the other hand, was a bit more in control, and I’m determined to do really well on Tuesday.  I’ll let you know how it goes.  I’m disappointed in myself, after having done so well all week, but I’m moving on and am back on plan right now.

If you’re interested, here are a few pics from my zoo trip (you can click on the images to see larger versions):

This summer, they’re bringing polar bears back to the zoo.  Right now, they’re building their habitat.  I’m so excited!

I think this little golden lion tamarin creature is a horror movie waiting to happen – creepy isn’t he?

Great Ball o’Lemur (don’t ask me how many are in here and/or which head goes with which body/tail):

Mr. Kangaroo (one of the great many nibbling on the grass).  One of the interesting things about the kangaroo exhibit is that there really isn’t anything between you and them, so if they wanted to hop over and say hi, they could.  Luckily, none decided to do that:

Two of my favorite pics from the day (the cardinal just happened to be in the bushes as we were walking by):

This is Kalijon, a baby red orangutan:

This little spider monkey obviously LOVED attention – I even got some of his antics on video:

The meerkats are always fun to watch, but I particularly liked these pics:

Me feeding the deer – their mouths are so soft – and a new baby llama (only a month old!):

While one tiger was on the prowl, pacing back and forth and watching us from the corner of his eye, his friend seemed dead to the world:

Finally, as a public service announcement, if you have an iron bed, I wouldn’t recommend jumping into it quickly in the dark.  You run the risk of whacking your head against the headboard.  Unfortunately, I speak from experience.  :)

Hi Pamla. I love your photos. Esp the Lemur ball. But they’re all fantastic.

Good that you’re back on plan straight away. That’s the main thing. An off day or two is recoverable. I know it’s a constant effort, but you are worth it you know.

Hope the rest of the week goes well!

    Bearfriend xx

Thank you, Bearfriend! You’re exactly right! The fact that I’m back on plan is all that matters. Today has gone well so far!

Loved the zoo pictures Pam. Sorry I’ve been neglecting you lately I’m so far behind on my blog reading. It sounds like you’re doing well though, way to go on lbs lost. Weekends are a struggle for us all I think.

Thanks, Dawn! Don’t worry about feeling like you’re neglecting me. I’ve been in the exact same place and am still trying to get caught up on my blog reading!
