Icy Sunday

Happy Sunday!

I hope you all are having a good weekend.  Mine has been pretty low key.  The weather has unfortunately been absolutely terrible.  We’ve  been getting a lot of ice/sleet/snow today.  My dad suggested that I go out and put some salt down on the driveway, so I decided to go ahead and clean some of the ice off of my car.  I won’t need to drive it until tomorrow afternoon, but figured it would be easier to try to get some of it off today, especially since it’s still coming down a bit.  But this is what I saw on my car this afternoon (when I finally decided to get out of bed):

I couldn’t get my doors open on this side and there’s even ice on my tires!

Unfortunately, our week without my mom hasn’t gotten off to too great of a start.  My dad did okay yesterday and most of today, but he just fell.  Luckily, it was here in our living room, and in an area where he was able to miss the furniture.  While it took him a little while to come out of the seizure, he seems to be doing okay now.  Thank God! I told him that was his allotment for the week.  No more!  He laughed and said, “yeah, mom’s only been gone for one day!”

Food-wise, I’ve totally blown this weekend.  Again.  But I just got done making couscous with veggies and Mexican Corn Bake (recipe on my food page above  – note: the food lists on that page are hopelessly out-of-date) for meals this week.  So I’m set.

I typically love winter, but this year’s weather has made me desperately ready for spring.  Plus, it’s wreaking havoc on my walking!   I wish I had the money/room for a treadmill.  But last night, I tried out my dad’s cycling machine (it’s the kind where you sit on it, stretch your legs out and pedal).  I was only able to do a few minutes (at a fairly high speed), but I plan on working my way up.

My goals for this week are to stick to my points and drink more water!!

Oh Pamela, that weather looks horrible! I don’t know what’s going here in Seattle, but it’s springtime. All the flowering trees have bloom, the cherry trees are in full bloom. My Iris’ are up about six inches. The daffodils are all blooming. It’s really freakish weather.

Today it was 58 degrees and clear blue skies. It’s been like this for a week. I love it, but it’s totally weird.

My goal this week is stay within my Points and more water too! At about 6pm I realized I’d only had two cups of coffee all day and no water! Too late to make up for it. :)

I’m so glad you’re posting again. It’s like a long, lost friend has returned. And I’m working on that email!
