Priorities

Can you believe it?  Three posts in one day! I just had to share this website for any of you living under a rock (like I was) and haven’t seen this site yet.  It may not be your cup of tea, and a few may be kind of dumb, but many of these crack me right the hell up!  My favorite is this one (click on the image to see the others):

The Enemy

Right now, my enemies are mirrors.  Really, any reflective surface.  I remember the days just a year and a half ago when I used to catch a glimpse of myself in a mirror, a window, a door, hell, even a spoon, and think “Who is that!”  Well, now I still do that, but it’s not nearly as positive of an experience. Usually, my first impressions now are of “Ugh” and “What the hell is wrong with you?”  Not conducive for positive self-esteem or self-confidence, I can tell you. But I’m trying to work on that. Maybe one day I’ll get to the point [ ... ]

OK I finished it!

Hi! My name is Pamela and I’m a book hoarder. I honestly can’t think of a single book that I’ve ever owned that I’ve sold or given away. (Other than crappy college textbooks, because those don’t count – especially since I kept quite a few of them, too.) I. LOVE. BOOKS. There’s no other way to say it. Ever since I was little, my mom threatened to make me go live at the library in order to save her the time and effort and gas money that it required to take me [ ... ]

Dream

Hi all!  Unfortunately, I had a bit of bad news on the scale today.  I was up 0.9 pounds.  Blah.  Oh well, it could have been a lot worse.  And as Bearfriend said, the fact that I’m back on plan is all that matters!  And I AM back on plan.  I did decently yesterday and have done perfectly today.  This is progress.  Every other time I’ve screwed up over the past year, I’ve gone into a full-blown tailspin of eating frenzy.  Not so this time! I’ve been spending a lot of my time reading lately and trying to catch up [ ... ]

So-So

I hope everyone had a fantastic weekend!  I didn’t have to work today because of President’s Day, so of course that was a beautiful thing! Unfortunately, I only did so-so on my eating.  I pretty much blew it on Saturday, which is sad because it got off to such a great start.  We went to the KC Zoo and spent several hours walking around and checking out the animals.  Surprisingly, there were quite a few out even though the temperature was hovering around freezing.  Of course, most of the African animals were in hiding. But as soon as I got home, it [ ... ]

Public Bathrooms

There are few things I despise more than public bathrooms, because, well: Ew. They’re “public”; and Ew. Now, most thin people can leave their list at that.  Overweight people, on the other hand, can add: 4.  They’re quite often tiny – sometimes downright claustrophobic. When the toilet paper compartment isn’t jamming into your leg, you’re constantly knocking into walls.  Bring in winter and bulky winter coats and it’s just a nightmare waiting to happen. But this is an area in which the company I work for shines.  Sure, they give great benefits, sometimes even a bonus or two, and are ranked by the Human Rights [ ... ]

“Lbs.” Movie Update

A few months ago, I posted about this movie that I happened to stumble across on the web (by just doing a random search one day).  I’m still anxiously awaiting the opportunity to see it, as I think it looks really interesting. Again, here is a link to the movie’s site.  Check it out if you haven’t already and let me know what you think.  I’d be interested to know if anyone else is as intrigued as I am. I was just notified that they are set to open March 26th in New York.  Then Boston, Minneapolis, Washington D.C, Atlanta, [ ... ]

Pancakes!!

Does anyone else out there love pancakes as much as I do?  Not only do they taste great, but I always remember Saturday morning cartoons and my mom making pancakes for us.  She liked to make Mickey Mouse-shaped ones. Since I joined Weight Watchers in 2006, I rarely ate pancakes.  In fact, I didn’t have them more than once or twice in the two years that I was perfectly on plan.  Even over the last year in which I’ve pretty much “fallen off the wagon,” I didn’t have them more than a couple of times.  They’re just too many points! I was [ ... ]

Victory!

Well, guys, my determination is still in full force and it is paying off. I stepped on the scale yesterday (officially) and lost 2.2 pounds for the week. The major victory, even more than the loss, is that I was completely within my points for an ENTIRE week.  This is the first week I can say that about in almost a year.  So I am very pleased about that.  Hip-Hip-Hooray! I have to admit that I was totally relieved.  Even though I did everything right last week and knew that my weight had to come down, I was still scared that it [ ... ]

Snow Journey

I’ve lost track of the amount of snow that we’ve gotten hit with this winter. We got snow again yesterday and are expecting more tomorrow night and Monday. That hasn’t kept me from going out walking, though. At least a couple of times anyway. In fact, I just got back. I only took a couple of pictures with my cell phone today, but took a bunch on my walk after the last big snow storm and thought I would share those with you. They’re in the slideshow below. Food-wise, I’m doing fantastic.  This is my 6th day [ ... ]

MMW: “One Tribe, Y’all”

On my second edition of Multimedia Wednesday (only three months after the first…), I have a few things to share with you. Movies I finally broke down and joined Netflix a couple of months ago.  I am SO glad that I did.  I freaking love it.  I feel like a kid in a candy store (or well, me in a candy store ) – especially that my queues now have over 500 movies in them and I’ve lost track of the number that I’ve actually watched.  Their best feature is the ability to stream quite a few of [ ... ]

“I Choose Authenticity”

Earlier, I posted about the author and shame expert, Brené Brown’s new book that is coming out in April. Here’s another link in case you missed it: I was perusing more of her website, when I noticed these pretty little badges over at the left side of her page: So I clicked on the “I Choose Authenticity” badge to find out more. Please click on it above to see what I read. On this site, I’ve decided that “I Choose Authenticity.” It’s hard to bare your soul on the page (er, screen) for others [ ... ]

A New Book by Brené Brown

I’ve posted quite a few times (understatement) about how much I admire the author and shame expert, Brené Brown.  You can check out her site here.  She is an amazing woman who never fails to reach right in and squeeze your heart with her words.  I’ve even been lucky enough to have her comment on here a couple of times!  Obviously, that meant a lot! I think she’s had a couple of books out, but this is the one that I have read that is now one of my favorite books. And it was a happy accident that [ ... ]

Crazy Errors

I’ve been notified by a couple of people about getting error messages on my site last night and today. I’ve fixed one thing I could think of that might have been doing it and everything looks okay on my end, but please let me know if you experience any more! Thanks, guys!

Holy Crap!

Excuse my language, but holy crap! So I posted yesterday about how I only did a half-assed job this week of staying on my Weight Watchers plan, right? Today, Tuesday, was my weigh-in day. I lost 4.9 pounds!!!!  Cue the happy dance music: And not only that, this is the second day in a row that I’ve been completely on plan.  I actually woke up a couple of hours before I had to, and felt like I was starving to death.  My stomach was actually growling.  Instead of grabbing a snack, I forced myself to go back to sleep.  I consider that a [ ... ]
