I Just Did a 5K!

Okay, so it was on my treadmill, and it took me a little over an hour, and I mostly walked, but I did it!!!  I’m so proud of me. When I bought my new shoes on Saturday, I decided that if I was going to spend that much on shoes, then I might as well go all out and really get something useful.  So I broke down and got the Nike+ Sportband.  It’s like a wristwatch that connects to a sensor in your shoe and tracks your distance, speed, time, and calories burned. The cool thing about it is that you [ ... ]

“Fatso”

Have you all seen the movie “Fatso” starring Dom DeLuise? It was made in 1980. Thanks to the power of Netflix, I heard about it and was able to watch it last night. Ironically, while I was on the treadmill. I highly, highly, highly recommend it for anyone who has ever had a problem with overeating.  It’s both heartbreaking and hysterical.  Here is the plot summary from Amazon: From the day he was born, food has always been the ultimate comfort for middle-aged bachelor Dominick DiNapoli (Dom DeLuise). But when his obese cousin [ ... ]

Weigh In – 4/27/10

Hi everybody! How was your weekend?  Do anything fun?  I was up bright and early Saturday morning on a hunt for new workout shoes.  Unfortunately, I have big feet and pretty flat arches, so it’s not an easy proposition.  I tried several different ones on and ended up going with ones that my friend, Shawna, recommended.  They’re the Nike Air Zoom Structure Triax.  They felt incredible in the store, but after a few hours of wearing them, my feet were pretty sore.  I’m going to give them a good workout on the treadmill over the next couple of weeks and hopefully [ ... ]

Happy Friday!

I hope everyone had a happy Friday!  While mine got off to a start reminiscent of last Friday, it finally chilled out an hour or so ago and things have been moving much more reasonably now.  At the beginning, we had several large projects, our work bin was full, and the phone calls and e-mails kept pouring in.  It was insane.  But all is well now (because we rock! ). On the food front, I’m doing much better.  I’ve stuck to my points the past couple of days, and I’m proud of that.  See, my slip-ups are getting shorter [ ... ]

Clarification and DC Trip

Hi all!  I hope you’re having a good week so far! As usual, this post is going to be a mish-mash of craziness that’s been running through my head lately.  In fact, I seem to be doing  a lot of these posts lately.  Maybe I’ll get my act together one of these days.    As an example of my thought process right now, I currently have 27 tabs (no joke) open in my internet browser – mostly things I need to look at or share with you all or just deal with later. First, thank you all so much for the [ ... ]

Weigh In & The Biggest Loser

Hi all! Just a quick post tonight.  I was down 2.8 on the scale today, but since I was up way more than that last week, I don’t really feel like it’s much of a success.  I’m going to just keep plodding along. Anyone watching “The Biggest Loser”?  Are you watching tonight?  No spoilers since they showed this on the preview, but O’Neil about broke my heart tonight when he was struggling with losing his brother.  I’ve been there.  I know what he’s going through, and seriously, I almost couldn’t watch.  I wish I could give him a hug. And I love Daris!!

Also, for those of you in the NY area, according to [ ... ]

Hanging In Here

Hey guys!  I hope your week has gotten off to a good start!  Mine is beginning much better than last week! After I wrote last week, things got a little better Thursday, but Friday all hell broke loose at work.  I went in thinking that things would be fine, was all excited about my DC trip in a few weeks and was in a fantastic mood.  But I’ve come to realize that the better of a mood I’m in when I go to work, the worse things turn out once I’m there. Let’s just say that we had a crazy, unreasonable project [ ... ]

A Roller Coaster of a Week

Okay, so I started this post yesterday with the headline “A Terrible, Rotten Week.”  Now, it’s more of a “Roller-Coaster Week.”  I’ll explain. My original post began:  “Ah, people.  Pamela has fallen and fallen hard. It’s pretty safe to say that it’s been a pretty terrible, rotten week.  A lot of it of my own making, but most definitely not all.”  I will continue here with my original post, and then tell you what has since changed. Last week was going (not good or bad, just going).  I was plugging along, feeling ravenously hungry for some reason, but sticking to my [ ... ]

Great Carmine Famiglietti Interview on WBZ

Hi all!  I just wanted to share this great interview with Carmine Famiglietti on WBZ Radio in Boston.  He is being interviewed by Laurie Kirby and discusses the movie, his weight loss, and his struggle to try and keep the weight off.  I’ve also linked to it on my “Lbs.” page in the toolbar above. The “Yeah, buts”

We all know them.  We’re all familiar with them.  They’re the soul-suckers.  They’re the self-esteem killers.  They’re the joy snatchers.  They’re the little words that can drain pleasure and replace it with depression in a single instant.  Along with comparison, they are another thief of happiness. They’re the “yeah, buts.” The “yeah, buts” can invade just about any part of your existence.  From your work, to your hobbies, to your weight, to just about any good event in your life. For example, here are a few of the weight loss “yeah, buts” in my life right now. I’ve lost 90.5 pounds. Yeah, but [ ... ]

Not Much Goin’ On

Hey guys!  So there isn’t much going on with me lately.  Just hangin’ in there.  I’ve been tracking everything and doing good the past couple of days, but have been using a few more flex points than usual.  I even peeked at the scale again today and it shows me as being up even more than yesterday, but I’m not going to let it get me down.  I’m just going to keep on keepin’ on and we’ll see where things fall (hopefully) next Tuesday at weigh in. I AM excited about one thing, though.  My mom was nice enough to pick [ ... ]

Weigh In 4/6/10 – Week No. 200!

Hi all! Can you believe that it has been 200 weeks since I joined Weight Watchers? I can’t! Time sure flies. On June 5th, it will have been four years. FOUR YEARS?! What the heck? Where does time go? So yeah, unfortunately for several months during 2009, I was off plan, but I’m still factoring those weeks in.  And unfortunately, I was up 0.5 pounds at weigh in today.  Ah, well.  You know, seriously, I can’t complain.  It’s the first time I’ve been up since 3/2/10, and it’s not even a whole pound.  And [ ... ]
