Hi all! Since I’m currently at a loss for something to blog about (or the things I can think of blogging about, I just don’t feel like blogging about right now), I thought I’d try another installment of “Getting to Know You.” Hope you enjoy and I can’t wait to read your answers if you feel like answering!
- Do you have a favorite TV Show that is no longer on TV?
- Did you go, or are you currently going, to college? If so, what did you study?
- What are your favorite non-blogging websites?
- What is your favorite color?
- Do you have a favorite childhood memory?
- Do you subscribe to or read any magazines on a regular basis? If so, which?
- Are you right-handed or left-handed?
- Have you ever broken a bone?
And my answers:
- I have many, but would probably pick: Dead Like Me, Who’s Line Is It Anyway (makes me laugh like no other), Angel, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Golden Girls, Roseanne, M*A*S*H, Wonderfalls, the British version of Coupling, Queer as Folk (US version), Charmed, La Femme Nikita (edited to add this one – don’t know how I forgot it), as some of my faves. I could actually go on and on, but will stop there.
- I went to college in Nashville and studied psychology and music business (originally wanted to work on the business side of the music industry-until I came to my senses).
- I spend a lot of time on Twitter and YouTube lately. I also love Postsecret, Pogo (even though I haven’t been on it recently), IMDB (of course), Netflix, and Amazon. Others come and go interest-wise.
- My favorite color is turquoise (of the blue-green variety), but I also love black and burgundy.
- I don’t have many after third grade. Before that, I have several: sitting at the foot of the Christmas tree with my brother and playing “I Spy” games with the lights and ornaments; sitting on the steps with my mom, brother, and dolls, and pretending that we were on a train or in a car going on a trip; climbing the tree in the backyard with my brother (it was the perfect climbing tree that had branches that spread out (we would pretend that it was a tree house with different rooms), but it got sick and had to be torn down); “teaching” my grandpa how to sew with cards like these; playing kick-the-can at my grandparents’ house, among many others.
- I subscribe to Newsweek, Entertainment Weekly, and the Weight Watchers magazine. I also pick up ones like People on occasion (sometimes even Cosmo
). - I’m right-handed.
- I’ve only broken one bone in my life. I was hit by a car when I was about 4 yrs old and the bone in my upper arm broke (they say it was sticking out of my arm). I even still have the scar. I did have my shoulder dislocated as a kid, but luckily, I don’t remember much about that. Have had a few sprains though.
And you didn’t think I’d forget this, did you??

Okay, this is inappropriate ’cause I’m ignoring the questions and writing something off topic instead. I just need to get this out there…I am house sitting at a place that has pantries (yes, plural) full of treats. Goodies. Desserts. Etc.
Of course I am alone. And I’m lonely. It’s too late to call anyone. “Aha!” I think to myself. “I shall whine to Pamela!”
BUT. I. WILL. NOT. RAID. THE. PANTRIES. Not even one pantry. There. I wrote it here. Now I cannot go back on my word. Or I would be a weiner dog of the worst kind.
Thanks, Pamela, for letting me unload. I actually feel much better. I sense you will understand! And forgive?
I shall go ponder the questions now.
LOL! Nothing to forgive, Rebecca! That’s what I’m here for. You are a brave, brave woman to be house-sitting there!
I don’t think I’d ever have the guts to eat out of someone else’s pantry – even if they offered – but it could definitely lead me to a late-night grocery store spree. Stand strong, Rebecca! You can do it!
I’ve been coming on here to participate only to decide it may take too long and leave to do something else. But, let’s me get it over with, it’s fun anyway.
Just the answers:
1. Friends. If I leave it as just Friends it’ll be totally true, but I loved many sit-coms and am never bored watching re-runs or videos.
2. College – first degree was in Upstate New York, Zoology with a Forensic Science major. Always liked the investigation side of biology. Tried to go into Forensics but had to take a year of police training so I bailed and went into clinical laboratory research. Master’s degree – Biomedical sciences – to make more of a fit into the field that I’m working in. Now in lab quality management. The reason I don’t want a PhD. any more is because I’ve lost interest in the hard science side of my field…
3. I also love postsecret. Other than that I read local news a lot on various sites. I frequent google and wikipedia – who doesn’t.
4.Favourite colour – I’m weird in that I’m not quite sure. It depends on what — clothing, car (blue), house (white and cream interior), etc. My clothes are all over the place, but I suppose blacks and browns are the backbone, and blue when I wear jeans.
5. Childhood memories – too many. I don’t even what to start with. Oh, there was this day when I came home toooo late from school after a few too many games with my friends and I thought I would be in trouble. I sneaked into the house and went to change out of my school uniform only to hear my dad calling me. I thought this is it…only find that he had bought me a pair of shoes that I had been lusting after because they were the in thing back then. Ah, was I happy that day. It was like being rewarded for being naughty. Am I weird in that many o fmy memories involve food?
6. Here it’s cheaper to buy rather than subscribe to magazines, and it used to be month I buy the O magazine and True Love (ladies magazine). Then I found out that sometimes I got to busy to go through them after the initially paging to see what’s exciting, so I’m making myself resist buying unless there’s something really interesting on the cover. I also impulse buy Living and Loving – baby stuff, some parenting magazines from time to time.
7. Right-handed; and of course I was the fool that envied the left-handed people and tried to use my left hand for some time.
8. No. But I’m actually carrying a compression fraction on 2 vertebrae that apparently I’m just going to have to live with, nothing can be done except to manage the pain. Luckily it completely went away when I was expecting my son and stayed away till recently. I only feel it when I sit for long periods these days. Oh, it happened when my car overturned in 2005, it was a total write-off.
Phew, that was long, now I have to get back to work, I’ve gone over my lunch time!
.-= Early´s last blog ..AWOL =-.
Thank you Pamela for all your wonderful support! I made it through the night and today without any slips. Just 4 more days to go here. I’m very stubborn, so I think I’ll be okay.
It seems I’m out to win the competition for WORLD’S SLOWEST WEIGHT LOSS. This was not my idea. :::SIGH::: Then again, my body has always had it’s own agenda: I was pregnant with my son for 10 months.
1) The Wire. (BEST show ever. Very entertaining AND educational). Also, of course, Roseanne. She was sheer genious. Oh. I almost forgot: Dead Like Me.
2) Favorite degree: Literature. Least favorite: nursing.
3) New York Times
4) The color I see when I stare at the sunrise with my eyes closed.
5) Blocked it out. It. Was. Bad. Very very bad.
6) The New Yorker. (I’m addicted.) Also, The Progressive.
7) Handedness is the only thing about me that is “right”, otherwise I’m all leftist.
I enjoy reading about your memories of your brother. Those we love remain in our hearts forever.
LOL Rebecca, I cracked up at your answer to #7 – that’s so me, too!
I know it must be difficult to work so hard and have your losses move so slowly, but hang in there! You inspire me! And 10 months! Wow! I’ve always felt bad for my mom, because I was almost three weeks late. lol
These are always fun and good to get to “know” the other readers/bloggers. At the moment I just need a freakin break from a flooded laundry room/kitchen due to old had it washing machine. I’m exhausted and I’ve been working for more days 10-12 hours with no days off since I don’t know when and whew…I’m here and saw this just now and thought yep, I’m gonna sit and read what everyone said and here’s mine:
