Well, my weigh in wasn’t pretty today, so we’ll gloss right over that. It could always have been worse, of course. But this has been an odd, odd week for me. Lots going on & lots of stress. Unfortunately, the rest of the week isn’t looking like it’s going to be that much more fun. In fact, my supervisor surprised us with our yearly employee evaluations today. Luckily it went well and my week-long bout of swine flu at the end of last year didn’t adversely affect it.
I didn’t get much sleep all last week or over the weekend, but I did get 9 hrs on Sunday night and 7 1/2 last night. I’m still really dragging though. I think it’ll take me some time to get caught up. I know it won’t be this weekend. My aunt and uncle are coming into town on Friday afternoon, and while I’m working Friday night, I’ll have to be up early Saturday. I have no idea what we’re going to do while they’re here.
I did have fun on Sunday night. My mom took me to see “Little House on the Prairie the Musical” (which you heard all about on Sunday night if you’re following me on Twitter). She is a HUGE “Little House” fan. I mean, she watches the reruns every afternoon on TV. Too bad there isn’t a “Little House” episode of Jeopardy. The woman would clean up. So when she heard that the musical was coming here, and even better, that Melissa Gilbert was playing “Ma,” she became as giddy as a schoolgirl and asked me if I’d go if she bought my ticket. Um, like I was going to say no.
It was held at one of our outside theaters, Starlight Theater. We used to go quite a bit when I was a kid. I was a Camp Fire member and we always got discount tickets through them. The only one that I really remember is seeing “Peter Pan.” I haven’t been back for probably going on 20 years, so it was fun to see the place and what has changed. We were really worried about the heat, but I don’t think we could have picked a better night for it. There was actually somewhat of a cool breeze.
The play was pretty good. I thought the first half was decent, but the second was just amazing, and there were quite a few laugh-out-loud moments. In fact, I got a cramp in my side at one point. The girl that played Laura was incredible and I could have listened to the man who played “Pa” sing all day long. It was also very cool to see Melissa Gilbert on stage in person. She’s definitely not a vocal singing powerhouse, but she held her own.
We weren’t allowed to take any photos of the actual performance, of course, but I did get several of the theater. The lighter/brighter ones were taken before the performance while the darker ones were taken during intermission.
About an hour and a half before performance:
Goofy me:
Closer to performance time and after we ate dinner (I passed up the hamburgers, hot dogs, ice cream, etc. for a turkey club with no mayo!):
I was pretty impressed with our seats. They felt a lot closer than the photos show. This one is from our seats looking towards one of the entrances, gift shop, eating areas, etc.:
Here are some before and during intermission shots:
So how’s your week going?
PS – Thank you all for the wonderful, supportive, thought-provoking comments on my last post!

My week is going…okay. My weigh in didn’t go as well as I’d hoped either, but I think it will come out better at the next meeting. I think my physical went alright but I am one of those people who stressed over insignificant things.
That is actually a beautiful outdoor theatre!

I love open air theaters! And that sounds like an awesome show. I remember it being on TV about thirty years ago and I don’t think we’ve ever had re-runs here. Loved the show!

Oh, “Little House” was a guilty pleasure for me back in my TV watching days. Didn’t care for the heavy-handed religious messages or the pull-yourself-up-by-your-own-bootstraps mentality, but enjoyed the way the community pulled together in times of hardship (especially the Grange as a co-op to fight big corporate interests). ‘Course it was fiction.
Closest thing we seem to have nowadays are blogging communities…and I’m not really sure how authentic those are.
Now, about my week. I’m back home again. Yay. Weighed myself. Boo. Something just doesn’t add up. I wonder if this is why some folks give up on trying to lose.
Hope the stressful stuff lightens up soon for you. As in now. (Hear that, universe?) Hugs!
