30 Days of Lists: List 15-On My Shopping List

Every week, I have two running shopping lists:  things to get at the grocery store, and things to get elsewhere. My list of things to get at the grocery store always depends on whether I’m trying to be on plan or not.  If I am: Fruits and veggies Salad Laughing Cow cheese Lean Cuisine pizzas Weight Watchers Quesadillas Healthy Choice frozen meals (the smaller ones) Sara Lee 45 Calories and Delightful 100% Whole Wheat bread with honey Lunch meat Hebrew National 97% Fat Free hot dogs (yes, yum) Whole Wheat couscous A variety of other things depending on what I want to make If I’m not trying to be on plan, then I [ ... ]

30 Days of Lists: List 14-Things I Love About Reading

Today’s list was a fill-in-the-blank.  It read:  “Things I Love About ________.”  So, I picked reading.  Of course.  I mean, it is almost my favorite thing in the world. Being able to escape into the story and forget all the worries, cares, etc. I have in my own life. Finding new quotes that mean something to me or that I just think are especially profound or funny (I love collecting quotes). The chance to not have to deal with or worry about anyone else: it’s just me and the story. The opportunity to learn something new. The opportunity to expand my vocabulary. Being moved by the [ ... ]

30 Days of Lists: List 13-DIYs I want to try

I LOVE crafts.  I LOVE being creative…even though I sometimes feel like my years of corporate servitude have sucked my creativity dry.  A few years ago, I tried my hand at making jewelry and think I got pretty darn good at it.  Here are a few other things I’d like to learn how to do: Crochet (I can do basic things like blankets of one color, etc., but would like to learn to do hats, etc.) Knit (my grandma tried to teach me way back when…) Bookbinding (our local community college has a class you can take) Making clothes Anything else that catches my eye…

30 Days of Lists: List 12-Weekly Rituals

Honestly, I struggled really hard with this one.  I’m not afraid to admit defeat – when it’s something I really need to admit defeat on.  I actually tried to come up with a different idea, but yeah, I failed at that too. So here goes at my attempt to come up with weekly rituals when I really don’t have any: Monday: I have to work an hour later, so this is most often my night just to come home and veg out. Either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday night, I’ve been hitting the grocery store (it varies) or even sometimes meeting up with [ ... ]

30 Days of Lists: List 11-Date Night Ideas

As specified in the rules, these didn’t have to be romantic date ideas. They could also be for friend-dates or by-yourself-dates. Dinner out (maybe going to a movie) Dinner in (maybe with netflix) Go for a drink or coffee (now that I’ve found one coffee drink I’ll actually drink) Art gallery Picnic Bookstore (you HAD to know I’d put that on there) Sightseeing in your own city (here in KC: things like local museums, Country Club Plaza, Liberty Memorial, Steamboat Arabia museum, etc.) Go for a walk (botanical gardens, etc.) Concert Drive-in movie (I’ve never been) Comedy club (again, I’ve never been) Checking out unique little shops Video games! (or maybe [ ... ]

30 Days of Lists: List 9-Fave Websites/Blogs

Okay, I’m going to say from the start that I’m going to try not to list any blogs here.  Honestly, I suck, and haven’t read any in just about forever.  Plus, of the ones that I know I DO love and the ones that are written by people I really care about, this post would just about have to be a trillion pages long.  So check out my blogroll up above or by clicking here.  And if somehow your blog is not on there, please let me know! I don’t want to leave anyone out. Facebook

30 Days of Lists: List 8-In My Bag

What do I carry in my purse regularly? Wallet Cell phone (when it’s not in my hand or pocket…which is more often the case) Kleenex Icebreakers Frost mints Spearmint wisps (love these things) Pens Small notebook Work ID badge (sometimes) Receipts I’ve shoved in the bottom Lip gloss Face Powder Tylenol Nail clippers Nail file Contact lens eye drops A couple of spare contact lenses My purse could hold any number of other things depending on where I’m going.  Though a lot of the time, I’ll just stick the essentials in my pockets and go.

30 Days of Lists: List 7-Blog Goals

Yeah…I’m a little behind on my daily lists…what can I say.  Work has been hell and my laptop went belly up.  It’s Sunday night, I have a new laptop, and I refuse to do other things I should be doing, so I figured “why not knock a few of these out…” Here are some current goals I have for my blog.  Been a while since I actually sat down and thought about this. Blog more regularly. Get to know some of my newer readers a bit better. Actually meet a few of the people that have really grown to mean a lot to me [ ... ]

30 Days of Lists: List 6-Least Favorite Words

Some of these are phrases and some are just grammar pet peeves, but are all things that drive me up a wall. I honestly don’t have a lot of words that I hate.  I love words. “My bad.” “Your” when used improperly.  So, pretty much all the time now.  (It’s not a crime to use “you’re,” people!) Any form of “it is what it is” or talk about throwing someone under the bus. Watched too much “Big Brother.” Any number of R rated words (though most bother me less than they used to).  Which isn’t to say I don’t curse…believe me, I do. Any words [ ... ]

30 Days of Lists: List 5-Weekend Goals

Well, my weekend is half over, unfortunately.  But I’m making progress on some of these.  On others, not so much…they’ll be works in progress for a while.  Otherwise, overall, a quiet weekend for me. Smile and laugh Get enough sleep to feel rested (ha) Make sure a friend knows that they are cared about Get to know new friends better Read a bit Relax a bit Run some errands (this one I can cross off, though I didn’t get everything done I wanted to) Do my taxes (again, HA, not gonna happen)

30 Days of Lists: List 4-Today’s Playlist

As I said before, I tend to listen to one thing over and over and over again, so this is more a list of songs that I’ve always loved, am in love with right now, I just happened to hear lately, or are just currently on my mind: Lady Antebellum: Hello World (My unofficial current theme song-gives me goosebumps every time) Natasha Bedingfield: Unwritten (My official theme song ) Johnny Nash:  I Can See Clearly Now (My fave song ever) Katy Perry: Firework Michael Buble:  Feeling Good (one of my all-time faves) Bruno Mars:  Just the Way You Are Simon and Garfunkel: Sound of Silence Rob [ ... ]

30 Days of Lists: List 3-Things I Am Looking Forward To

So many things that I can’t even list them all.  Several of these are things that I don’t know if they’ll ever happen or not, but I am eternally hopeful. My next vacation day. Seeing my good friend Riley’s first movie on the big screen. Traveling overseas, especially Ireland. Writing a book and having it published (yeah right). Finding someone to share my life with. Getting to know some new friends better. Losing my extra weight again. Feeling entirely confident. Having kids. Feeling like an adult. Getting off of work tonight. Getting all of my debt paid off. Moving out…again. Harry Potter Part 2. Seeing [ ... ]

30 Days of Lists: List 2-Things I’m Good At

I’m one of those lucky people that can usually succeed at things they try, unless it requires musical talent, rhythm, or athletic ability.  But here I go: Typing (over 100 wpm). Being nice. Being awkward. Making lists. Procrastinating. Following directions. My job. Writing…sometimes…when I really try. Getting lost in a book…or in thought. Playing devil’s advocate. Collecting stuff I don’t need. Eating. And wow, what a boring list that is.  So what are you good at?
