So I’m up another 1.2 pounds this week. I was actually quite a bit surprised that it wasn’t more considering we ate out practically every meal over the weekend. Sadly, over the course of September, I have completely undone all of the work and progress that I made over the course of August (have gained more than 9 pounds in the last three weeks and September isn’t even over yet). I’m exactly where I was at the beginning of August. And thoroughly disgusted with myself on top of it.

First, before I get to the details, I want to thank each of you for the wonderful happy birthday wishes you left!! You all are awesome! I know I say that over and over, but it’s only because of how true it is!
Honestly, I was overwhelmed by the birthday wishes I received from people. So many people sent me messages here, through text and voicemail, via Twitter or Facebook, that I really was just stunned (even received a happy birthday wish from Carmine Famiglietti!). As most of you know, tomorrow’s my birthday! I’m turning the ripe old age of 33.
I have mixed feelings about the day. On the one hand, I mentioned that I’m always a little sad around it because of my brother. I’m also a little wary of it, because it has pretty much ended up sucking every year for some reason or another. Seems like something always goes wrong. For example, last year, even though I had the day off, I still ended up having to deal with some work issues.

In my efforts lately to live a more bold, authentic, and whole-hearted life, I woke up one day with yet another impulse to “let the cat out of the bag” as far as my blog is concerned.
This may surprise you, because I’ve often written before about how I sometimes wish that no one I’m close with in my “real life” knew about my blog. I’ve mentioned that sometimes it makes me question how open I want to be about things. It’s hard letting yourself be this vulnerable and this open.

For the past many, many years, I remembered a friend of mine once said something along the lines of “women are at their best in their 30s.” I’ve always held that in the back of my mind, and when I turned 30, I decided that that was going to be the case for me. Thank you all so much for all of the supportive comments and messages I’ve received. You all are WONDERFUL. That’s all I have to say. That and thank you thank you thank you. I’m still freaked, and am sure I will be even more freaked tomorrow, but right now, I’m doing okay. I’m doing some deep breathing as some of you suggested and am trying to visualize pushing the fear out. Also repeating I can do this, I can do this, I can do this. LOL

Hi folks! I hope you all had a fabulous week.
Overall, mine was pretty good. I had a few low moments – a few things that are bothering me kind of snuck up on me here and there, but I also had a lot of fun.
First, TEDxKC was Thursday night. I met some friends beforehand at the Nelson Art Gallery (where TEDx was held) and since we were there early, we walked around checking things out for a bit before TEDx started. When I was in high school, I was known to my closest friends as “Pessimistic Pam.” In our Winnie the Pooh fantasy, I was, inevitably, Eeyore. The nickname carried through into college, as well.
Lately, though, I’ve been doing a lot of thinking about myself, my life, and the universe in general and I’ve realized something. I was never all that pessimistic. It wasn’t necessarily an act either, however.
In thinking tonight, I realized that while I always thought I was truly pessimistic, there was a part of me that, no matter how many times I’ve been crushed or slapped back down [ ... ]

Well, it’s everyone’s favorite morning! Monday morning! Okay, that was a lame attempt at bringing a bit of cheer into this Monday morning.
It’s currently 10am. Yes, I am supposed to be sleeping. In fact, I should have been in bed about five hours ago. <SIGH>
Project “Get Pamela Some Sleep” didn’t go so well last week, unfortunately. There were two days in which I got about 10 hrs each, but the rest of the week seemed to follow my usual pattern. In fact, Thursday night, I only got about 3 1/2 hrs. Friday night, I got absolutely NO sleep. Then on [ ... ]

Hi guys!
You’re not going to believe it, but I actually cleared out my Google Reader last night. Now, admittedly, there were over 1000+ posts (I’m not sure exactly as that is what it maxes out at), so I wasn’t able to read all of them, but I did read quite a few. Of course, now it is back up to around 30, but hopefully this will be a first dip of my toe back into the blog-reading world.

This was an excited me before we left for the game:
You know the best part about it? I bought that t-shirt at the National World War I Museum back on Memorial Day weekend. It was the weekend that we went to the dinosaur exhibit. It didn’t fit when I bought it! It was WAY too tight! AND NOW IT FITS! Which is just awesome because it has a picture of Snoopy on it as the Flying Ace.
