More about my Sunday walk

When telling you about my walk around the park on Sunday, I forgot to tell you a couple of things that I saw! The first (and best) was a man riding a unicycle!  I kid you not!  It was great.   I don’t know how he was doing it, but it looks like a great ab workout. The second was this one bench.  Every time I passed by, there was someone different sitting on it.  On my final lap, a man was sitting there with his girlfriend (at least I assume it was his girlfriend since she had her head in his lap).  [ ... ]

Weigh-In 5/6/08 (Week 100)

It’s week 100!  I can’t believe I’ve been on Weight Watchers for 100 weeks now!  Unfortunately, but as I suspected, I gained this week.  I didn’t do anything differently this week and stuck to my points, but I knew it was coming.  I could feel it.  Happily, though, it’s nothing to worry about.  At least I don’t think so.  I only gained 0.3 lb.  )  I’ll be back down next week!

A Touch of Nature

Today was an absolutely gorgeous day.  It was around 68 degrees.  The sun was shining, the birds were singing, and there was a cool breeze. Normally, the terms “exercise” and “Pamela” don’t co-exist in the same air space.  However, I was feeling a bit energetic today for some reason and after a rousing game of Scrabble with my mom (she beat me by six points), I decided to go for a walk around the lake near my house.  Yes, me!  A walk!  Outside even! Old me, new me, me who?

You hear a variety of comments from people who have lost a lot of weight.  Usually they run in about two different ways: 1)  Comments about feeling like a completely different person, about the “old me,” and the “new me.” 2)  Comments about being the same person, just smaller. For myself, I think I fall somewhere in between.  I believe that I am the same person I was before, just a bit more confident and more willing to be who I am regardless of what others think. Losing a Point and the Weight Watchers Flex Plan

Along with losing 2.1 pounds this week, I’ve lost another friend.  I’ve lost another point. As you all know, I’ve been doing the Weight Watchers Flex Plan.  On this plan, foods are given point values based on the number of calories they have, how many grams of fat they have, and how many grams of fiber they have.  These numbers are used in a formula to calculate the food’s point value.  Or, if you’re a Weight Watchers customer, then you simply have to input those values into a points slider or calculator and voila!  You have a points value.  Their online [ ... ]

Wellness Initiatives

My supervisor recently and jokingly (at least I hope) suggested that I regain all of the weight I’ve lost so that I can lose it again.  When I looked at her like she was certifiably insane, she explained that my company is going to begin some kind of wellness initiatives.  Whatever that means.  I joked that it’s too bad they weren’t retroactive and she laughed and then the subject got changed before I could ask for further details. Weigh-In 4/22/08

I lost 2.1 pounds this week!  I’m on a roll!  It’s so nice to be back.  With this loss today, I’ve also broken into a new decade.  Luckily, though, I’m not far enough in to have dropped a point, but that should be coming soon.  Yikes!  I’m having a hard enough time with the points I am allowed now.  I don’t know what I’ll do when I have to drop another point. I’m a bit concerned about the upcoming weekend.  I have a big luncheon to attend on Saturday, and then a family get-together on Sunday with out-of-town relatives.  Hopefully I’ll [ ... ]

Updated Pics

Well, guys, I’ve updated my pictures (link on the menu bar above).  I took new pictures today in honor of my losing 151 lbs so far.  I didn’t think there would be much of a visible change from the pictures I took 25 lbs ago, but I was pleasantly surprised.  I couldn’t help but laugh when I tried on my old clothes.  It was hard keeping those pants from falling down!  Even the shirt didn’t want to stay on my shoulders! Biggest Loser 4/08/08

WARNING *** SPOILERS *** Oh man, what an incredible episode this week’s show was!  So much inspiration – both by the contestants’ example and the sharing of their new insight.  I can’t imagine how they must have felt to put those body suits on that made them their old weights.  That must have been extremely difficult.  But what perspective it must have given them!  The video flashbacks had me tearing up, of course.  They’ve all come so far and have put themselves through so much over the course of the competition. A Weekend of Self-Sabotage

Well, guys, I completely and utterly blew this weekend to smithereens.  I know I’ve said before that I’ve had some bad weeks, but this one was absolutely the worst that I’ve had since I joined Weight Watchers almost two years ago.  I peeked today and am up 3 pounds, so we’ll see what the scale says tomorrow on my official weigh-in day. Biggest Loser 3/18/08

WARNING  ***SPOILERS*** I might be a bit biased since I’ve been rooting for Brittany, but they’re idiots.  They’re all idiots!  I shouldn’t be all that surprised that the Blue Team Boys Club (BTBC) decided to vote her out, but at some point they’re going to have to become a bit cannibalistic.  I mean, the last I heard, they all came to win.  Wouldn’t the smart thing (at this point with so few people left) have been to vote out the biggest threat?  Ah well.  I was obviously sad to see her go, but she looks amazing. Weigh-In 3/18/08

All right.  That’s it.  I quit.  Okay, not really, but I am getting pretty darn frustrated here.  After yet another week of sticking to the plan and doing what I’m supposed to, the scale showed a gain of 1.4 pounds today.  Argh. I’ve been keeping an Excel spreadsheet ever since I started Weight Watchers that tracks and graphs out my weight, losses/gains, how much I need to lose, my BMI, leftover flex points, goals (and pounds needed to be lost to meet them), activity points, measurements, etc.  Yeah, I know I’m showing my geekiness here, but it’s pretty darn cool if I [ ... ]

Biggest Loser 3/11/08

WARNING  ***SPOILERS*** As usual, tonight’s episode was emotionally heart-wrenching.  I was deeply disappointed that Bernie didn’t make it back onto the show.  He was so close!  I’ve got my fingers crossed for him, though, for the finale.  I know he’s going to do great.  I have to add here that I still love Trent, too! One thing I love about this show is that it can bring both tears and laughter.  A couple of my favorite comments tonight were from Dan (when he was talking about how great he is at creating joules and then admitting that he really didn’t have a clue [ ... ]

Weigh-In 3/11/08

WHOOHOO!  I lost 1.7 pounds this week!  I’m not quite back to where I was before I started gaining (need to lose 0.7 lbs more to get to where I was), but I’m exactly one pound away from having lost 150 pounds.  Let me tell you, there will be a celebration at my house on that day, as well as an update to the Blue Shirt Comparison picture.  Maybe next week?  I’m afraid to be too hopeful, though.  For today, I’m pretty darn happy. I think that has been part of my problem.  The novelty of the weight loss had worn off [ ... ]
